I'm not impressed with this catcher we traded for You poking at Todd? No, he doesn't like Maldonado because i said it was a good trade. If Saint was all for it, bear would be claiming it was a big deal.

Player of the game ranking: 1. Justin Verlander 2. George Springer 3. Martín Maldonado Considering Jake got one of the four hits and scored the winning run, he needs to be in that mix. LMAO...man, I haven't seen anything like this since the Adam Everett days. ROFL.

It's fair to say the Maldonado trade took us all by surprise. No one made a peep on this board about Maldonado prior to the trade, that I'm aware of. Ramos and Realmuto got attention as trades at C but not Maldonado.
I view Maldonado as a decent upgrade over Fedo. If you have a chance to make such an upgrade, might as well do it.

Maldonado will fit better in a lineup that includes a healthy Altuve, Correa and Springer, NOT a team of bumbling losers like Marisnick, Davis, and Marwin.
With Gold Glove defensive catching talent, he can be carried offensively by the strong Astros lineup when all the other weak mollies are riding the pine or the Fresno bus.

I get that the trade was made so Justin could have a battery mate. This reminds me of the Conger tradeIt's also funny you think you rent space in my head when we both know it's the other way around

He likes Maldonado. Therefore I like Maldonado. And as the frog said, he can be carried when the boys get back with no strain.

According to Rotoworld Altuve won’t be ready when he comes off the DL on Sunday. Surprise, surprise.

I predict the shortest game, time wise, of the year. First one to 2 runs wins. Hey, you were right! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Did you expect to win a game against the Dodgers when we score two total runs and Maldonado and Jake scored them? Everett was as good a SS as Jake is a CF........if possible, Jake is the better hitter of the two.

You hit the nail on the head. With our regular lineup in the game, we don't need Maldonado to do anything other than catch and shut down a running game. Of course, a hit from time to time would be nice.

Everett vs. Marsinick? That's like having to be forced to pick to eat between Rallys and Checkers.

As Blum and the players keep saying, Jake brings energy and enthusiasm to the cluhouse. He proves excellent speed and defense. Marwin provides laziness and little else

The lineup I would use today vs Maeda (of course Springer at #1 is pre-printed on every page of the pad of lineup forms AJ uses to fill out and submit to the umpire each game so I am just submitting the #’s 2-9 that I would use):
Springer RF Kemp 2B Bregman SS Gurriel 3B Reddick LF White 1B Stassi C Marisnick CF McCullers P

I wish I knew AJ would use this one, but, he will keep his boy Marwin in there to drag his ass around.

Maldonado is a solid (but overrated) defensive backup. He wasn't worth a prospect though unless Verlander didn't like Fed either. I don't have anything against Maldonado other than that.
It was obvious Verlander was not getting along well with Stassi the way he was with McCann.

The one thing I like about having Maldonado on the team is that, if we play a team that depends on the running game, he can shut that aspect of their offense down. It’s not just the throwing out base runners attempting to steal. He will pick a runner off in a heartbeat if he wanders off base and isn’t alert.

I more like the idea of him as a late inning replacement. He is the Marisnick of catchers.

That’s why you read about them being angry when no trades are made before the deadline. what does Blum think they’re going to do? Tell a reporter “man, I wish they’d send this loser Marisnick packing!”?
