I know he’s getting a lot of flack for the Osuna trade, but the man does an excellent job and finds diamonds in the rough better than most general managers out there.

I already admired Luhnow as a GM,but after the way he dealt with Giles in response to the boy cursing Hinch on the mound, I admire him even more. His trading for Osuna does not change that.

OP.....did you notice "100 Piles" Giles had his Blue Jay debut last night? A "9" era right out of the gate. Of course he had to protect a 6 run lead. Let's see if the Jay's manager has the balls to bring him in with a one run lead.

"100 Piles" Giles”
LMAO! Yes I saw the results of his first appearance for the Jays. Better them than us, right?

I like his move for Osuna and if Osuna does what he is capable of doing, Luhnow stole him and got rid of a head case at the same time.

We as a country have moved from a place where you were innocent until proven guilty to a place where the slightest accusation of a transgression against a protected class immediately makes you a leper. However actual crimes against a non protected class can be brushed off by a simple half hearted apology. Disgusting really. If Osuna turns out to be a low life piece of garbage then I am sure that Luhnow will deal with him and I am sure that the blow hard dimwits that rush to judgement will say it is too little too late. If on the other hand it proves to be a situation where it is a he said/she said issue then many will hold him guilty just because he was charged.

He needed to and I’m glad he did. Hinch brought Giles into games for no reason other than to build his confidence, and his reward was a teenaged pouty response on the mound.

The boy is childish. He may make a ballplayer when/if he grows up.

Luhnow has been very good. Not all trades work out, but he has put together an amazing team this year and last.

Luhnow's only under contract through 2023. Come on Crane.... sweeten it another 5-10 years.

I have never understood why he would have gotten flack for that trade. We clearly stole a good closer and gave up a psycho to get him........a win situation all the way.

At the time, the optics of trading for him with his legal issues were problematic. But in retrospect, Ozuna as far as I know has been a model citizen. I was maybe the most critical here of this trade. I admit I was wrong.

Kudos to Crane for being willing to keep shelling out money and letting Luhnow dow hat he needs to do. Drayton McLane would have never done it.....he would not have allowed us to get and keep Verlander. He would not have extended Altuve or Bregman. I am very thankful we have an owner like Crane who appreciates the fans and helps the team by getting what it takes to win. I can assure you Crane is not losing money. Since we won the WS, much larger crowds and millions more in merchandise sales. He makes money by keeping the team elite. If we want to keep Cole, a contract can be drawn up with deferred money that will allow that plus we can extend Springer. Many thanks to Drayton McLane for selling the Astros to Jim Crane.

After the 2017 World Series...
Drayton: What’s the big deal? They already have a bunch of championships.

We have about $130 million tied up in just Verlander, Greinke, Altuve, Bregman, Reddick, Brantley, and Gurriel next year.
We'll need to spend money on a catcher, Springer, Osuna, Diaz and Correa will get large raises, and we'll probably need to buy bullpen help (potentially three but likely at least two). I just don't see how they find a way to pay Cole and also sign Springer to an extension. I'm not sure if either of those can get done, to be honest. There will be other smaller increases in there too.

When I owned the Astros we one so many of them championships, before long I had all my employees call my Dynasty McLane....Ed Wade resisted calling me that at first, but I had that Chacon feller pay him a visit...

All I want to say about Posters like Astrohop is I wish I could hear them Now. Crane will never spend the Money and He is a Racist bigot. More than half of the missing Posters were Crane haters for no real reason other than a run in with a Union and Crane was right with that too.

Though it was more than Kevinbass who had it in for Crane or maybe it was a couple poster on another forum that really hated him.
