So many wannabe GMs on the board. I'm so happy you guys are not in charge. πππππ Why do you say that? Doesn't every team need $20M/yr backups riding the pine?

I guess with Anderson going out that makes Fiers and Jackson their new #1 and #2.

It is a shame for those guys that Manaea and Anderson went down. As hard as they have fought to give themselves a chance, without those two guys they probably drop out of contention.

That seems unlikely now.

In the end, pitching depth brings success. Too long a season without it. The Yankees are a Severino injury away from nada also.

You guys are the ones who are cranky. This team is amazing but you wouldnβt know it with the comments. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I wonder if Bagwell and Biggio playing almost every game hurt them in playoff games. Maybe AJ has the right formula and Correa, Altuve and Springer have all gotten time off from mostly injuries. Might help them be fresher if they make the playoffs. Also McCann.

Reddick stunk at the end of last year, and it's possible fatigue was a factor

Can someone remind me when the Last Time Springer as leadoff acted like a leadoff hitter? IE Setting the Table

With the news on Manaea, look for the Aβs to push their chips in on relief pitching.

I'm tempted to bat Correa 1st. Maybe that'll get him to jump on more pitches in the zone early in the count

First 2 pitches to White were balls inside.
White gets it done.

First 2 pitches to White were balls inside. White gets it done. it's an interesting predicament to be in as a hitter. The safe approach would have been to sit there and take the pitches outside the zone and work a walk... which would produce runners on the corners for the bottom of the lineup. The approach he chose was to put the ball in play any way possible... which produced a sacrifice RBI. Nothing earth-shattering, but got the Astros on the board and baseball history says that the team to score first wins 2/3 of the time. So significant in that respect. The safe approach might have resulted in the inning ending on a DP or whatever and the score 0-0. Or the next guy might have hit a 3-run HR. We'll never know. Anyway, I'll take the result of 1-0.
