91-54 .629 winning percentage (On pace for 101 Wins.) 3 games ahead of Oakland in the division. 8 games behind Boston for overall lead. 1st in run differential at +241 Team OPS+: 111 Team ERA+: 129
99.9% chance at making the postseason. Magic number to clinch the division is 15.
It's looking more and more like we're going to have to virtually win out to take the division. Hopefully Correa gets a day off today with the early game. Hopefully Altuve does NOT after he finally had a very good game yesterday, hitting the ball hard 4 out of 5 ABs. Let's see if he can get going consistently. It's Cole vs. Nobody Special today so we really need to take the sweep.

Don't hold your breathe until Correa gets a day off.....I am not sure a day off corrects his problem., He would come back Friday and still look stupid takikng center cut fastballs. It't time that AJ has a one-on-one with him.

Oakland looked kind of scary in spring training and now they're showing there was substance to all of that.
At the time, it was Cactus League so not a terribly good predictor of the future in itself, but they sure showed they could hit.
in other news, I wonder if this storm hitting the East Coast will throw a wrench into the baseball schedule enough to make a difference in the pennant races. If a few games have to be cancelled in WSN or BAL or wherever, it could force the league to schedule doubleheaders in a short time span and that could really tire out some teams.

I don't know, but we can expect Houston to be as helpful as anybody, if needed.

The Astros have only lost 4 games since September 21. (and two of those seem stolen) And they're still not clicking on all cylinders.

As I recall the Astros and the A's were tied on that day. Oakland has played to a 14-7 record but had a real tough schedule. We have put three games on them since then and our schedules are similar in difficulty for the balance of the season. If we win today and take 4 of the next 6 after that it will real hard for the A's to catch us. The A's are like a 2015 version of the Astros but better. There is something to be said for youthful enthusiasm.

I’m looking forward to the A’s visiting the Rays. They’re a pesky team and are tough to beat at home.

I think their indicators are picking up on something genuine about the team.

It took a couple months since the 11-game streak, but they’re finally starting to win like a good team despite Correa looking so bad on offense.

The Astros are still the best team until knocked out.............The Rays have a good chance of winning a series at home against Oakland

What worries me about Correa is...a bad back doesn't cause you to stare at strikes down the center of the plate. His problem is more than a sore back.

So Altuve finally shows signs of good life and he gets benched, while Correa still doesn't get a day off despite supposedly still having back issues.
I'm sure they know more than us when it comes to this stuff, but I don't get it.
P.S. I was just asking for Altuve to have a day off so I guess I can't complain too much.... It just would have been nice to see him build off a strong game yesterday.

What worries me about Correa is...a bad back doesn't cause you to stare at strikes down the center of the plate. His problem is more than a sore back. All I can think of is that he is trying to limit his swings by taking more pitches. Maybe he works more walks from it and doesn't have to twist his back as often. The problem is that he is taking strikes early in the count...not balls. And so then he puts himself in a hole and has to swing at mediocre pitches (or strikeout looking).

Like I said yesterday, Correa's still pretty valuable as a middle infielder even though his bat is disappointing. This is likely why he continues to get starts

Norris was the prospect Toronto dealt Detroit to get David Price in 2015, but he has not pitched well the last two seasons

A day off or two wouldn’t hurt, even consecutively.
