Perez and Bielak pitch a shutout for BC. Both look good Got a pitchers duel going between Buies Creek and Down East this evening. Carson LaRue on the mound for Buies Creek. Edgar Arredondo pitching for Down East. Both pitchers perfect through 4 innings.

Perez and Bielak pitch a shutout for BC. Both look good Bukauskus back on the hill...briefly...for Quad Cities. He’s having a rough go of it so far. What's with all of the Astros' highly-touted minor league arms having such a rough start? Bukauskas, Armenteros, Francis Martes, Framber Valdez, Brendan McCurry... I would have expected two or three of those guys to have started hot. Cionel Perez is looking pretty good at CC so I wonder if he gets promoted to AAA soon. That could be important in terms of the Astros having an effective lefty reliever to bring to the postseason. Sipp doesn't look like we want him pitching to the Red Sox in the ALCS so the lefty reliever thing needs to get sorted by August. C Perez is probably a long-shot for that job but I believe in looking for internal replacements before thinking trade or FA acquisition. Dyxhoorn and Emanuel and Sneed are looking good so far but I kind of doubt their ability to keep it up. We'll see.

I have more hope for Perez than I do for Emanuel though.

He pitched like King Kong last year and did well in spring training in all but one appearance so whatever is going on with him really is puzzling. I thought he was ready to go.

Aren’t they building..or looking to build.. a new stadium there for the Buies Creek team? If I recall correctly, when the Astros moved the A Advanced affiliate to NC from Lancaster, California, the team said they would play at Jim Perry stadium temporarily until another stadium is built.
I remember that when the affiliate was playing in that little ballpark in Lancaster the hitters numbers were inflated to the positive side and the pitchers numbers were inflated to the negative side. If a hitter put up good numbers in Lancaster, it was no big deal. On the other hand, if a pitcher put up good numbers there, it was cause to think he might have potential.

Here is a comparison of the dimensions of Minute Maid to Jim Perry Stadium: Minute Maid: Left field - 315 feet Left-center - 362 feet Center field - 409 feet Right-center - 373 feet Right field - 326 feet Jim Perry: 337 feet down the left field line 368 feet in left-center 395 feet to straight-away center 375 feet to the right-center 328 feet down the right field line. Corbin Martin extended his scoreless inning streak to open the season to 19 innings tonight. He gave up only one hit, walked just one and struck out 5 over 5 innings. Not to be outdone, Brett Adcock came on in the 6th inning and threw 4 innings of no-hit, shutout ball, walking just one and striking out 9 to finish the game for Buies Creek. This was the 8th shutout by Buies Creek pitchers in their first 22 games and it lowered their team ERA to 1.73 and team WHIP to 0.96.
Another thing to like about Martin is his GO/AO ratio which is 1.91. He has 26 strikeouts in his 19 innings pitched so far. If he can keep up that ability to get about 2 groundouts for every flyout while striking out more than a batter per inning pitched, he should be ideal at MMP.

I was just checking gameday on the Corpus Christi vs Frisco game. They are doing the “teams begin each extra inning with a gimme runner on second base” thing in that game. What a crock. This is professional baseball at the AA level we are talking about here..., not high school softball tournament ball.

LMAO. Frisco scored two runs in the top of the 10th.., one of which was the gimme runner who started the inning at second base. Corpus Christi scored three runs in the bottom of the 10th.., one of which was the gimme runner who started the inning at second base. Corpus wins. What exactly was accomplished by giving each team a free runner in scoring position to begin their turn at bat in the 10th inning? What a silly rule.
