Nothing wrong with a little fun. We all like each other or we wouldn't be on the board. Go Stros! False. I only tolerate most people.

Corbin Martin is having a great start for Corpus Christi tonight. Has allowed just 1 hit, no runs, no walks and has struck out 8 through 6 innings.

From games played May 24:
AAA - Reno 4 Fresno 3 Drew Ferguson CF: 0-4, BA .306 Kyle Tucker LF: 0-4, BA .282 Tyler White SS: 0-4, BA .352 AJ Reed 1B: 1-4, 1 2B, BA .265 Garrett Stubbs DH: 1-4, BA .353 Nick Tanielu 3B: 1-3, BA .160 Alejandro Garcia RF: 1-4, BA .250 Eduardo De Oleo C: 1-4, BA .150 Cody Bohanek 2B: 1-3, BA .111 Brock Dykxhoorn RHP: 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, ERA 1.50 Matt Ramsey RHP: 1.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, ERA 3.00 Brendan McCurry RHP: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, ERA 5.32 James Hoyt RHP: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, ERA 2.16
AA - Springfield 4 Corpus Christi 0 Myles Straw CF: 0-2, 2 BB, BA .348....stole a base(29) Josh Rojas LF: 2-4, BA .388 Randy Cesar 3B: 3-4, 1 2B, BA .350....might be time to start paying attention to this kid. Was Texas League Player of the Week last week. Sadly for him, he looks like a player who is going to be blocked with the Astros. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him included in a trade. Alex De Goti 3B: 1-4, BA .260 Jamie Ritchie C: 1-4, BA .233 Anibal Sierra SS: 1-4, BA .278 Corbin Martin RHP: 7.2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K, ERA 3.38....after a terrible first game at AA in which he pitched just 0.1 innings and allowed 6 ER, he has bounced back well. Since that first game, he has made 4 appearances, pitched 21 innings and allowed just 2 ER on 12 hits and 5 walks while striking out 20. I think he is going to be a good one for the Astros in a couple years. Erasmo Pinales RHP: 1.2 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, ERA 5.92 Carlos Sierra RHP: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, ERA 9.00
A Advanced - Winston-Salem 3 Buies Creek 1 Ronnie Dawson CF: 0-4, BA .233....really off to a slow start, but he started slowly last season and finished strong. JJ Matijevic LF: 1-4, BA .328....got this guy with a pick awarded to Astros as compensation for hacking incident. So far he is looking pretty good. Troy Sieber 1B: 1-4, BA .257....stole a base(1) Luis Payano DH: 1-3, BA .250....stole a base(3) Alfredo Angarita 2B: 1-3, BA .253 Brett Adcock LHP: 3.2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, ERA 2.50 Jesus Balaguer RHP: 3.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, ERA 6.27 Colin McKee RHP:1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, ERA 12.79

Is Forrest Whitley going to start Tuesday's game? I found this posted on Rotoworld: “Astros top pitching prospect Forrest Whitley is due to join the rotation at Double-A Corpus Christi the second week of June. Whitley was handed a 50-game suspension back in February for a violation of the minor league drug program and he came down with a minor lat injury a couple weeks ago while ramping up his throwing program. The 20-year-old right-hander posted a promising 2.83 ERA with 143 strikeouts in 92 1/3 innings (18 starts, five relief appearances) last season between three different levels of the Astros' minor league system. He could still make his MLB debut at some point in late 2018. May 22 - 10:06 PM”

White is obviously being groomed for Marwin’s role, but he is also building trade value. If the right deal came along, I could see him being included in a trade before next season.
I would still like to see Davis given some playing time at 2B and SS in AAA to prepare him for Marwin’s role. He already has some playing time at both corner infield and both corner outfield positions. Wouldn’t mind seeing Davis as starting 1B with Yuli moving to DH. As with White, if the right deal came along I could see Davis included in a trade before next season.
I think Kemp could fill a utility role already. True enough he doesn’t play 3B, SS or 1B, but Bregman could fill in at SS when Correa needs a day off. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kemp included in a trade before next season.
I really think Fisher will be traded before next season. Reddick and Springer are locked up through 2020 and Tucker will be manning the other OF spot NLT next season. I just can’t see Fisher being kept around for a reserve OF/PR role. I think Fisher has more value as a trade piece. Marisnick can be kept around as the reserve OF/PR until Straw is ready. to take over that role. Straw should certainly be ready by 2020.
Looking at possible position player active roster for 2019:
C: Stassi, Stubbs 1B: Davis 2B: Altuve SS: Correa 3B: Bregman LF: Tucker CF: Springer RF: Reddick DH: Yuli Reserves: Marisnick-LF, CF, RF Kemp-2B, CF, LF or White-LF, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B
I really wish the team would go to a 12-man pitching staff next season and keep all those guys on the ML roster. No doubt in my mind that Davis could fill the garbage time pitching role that Sipp is filling now.

Lefties have been hitting .063 against Guduan, and he's been limiting his walks. Major league player? Guduan hasn’t allowed a earned run in his last 10 appearances covering 14 IP..., but he walked 7 in those 14 innings. However, in his last 6 games he has walked just 2 in 9.1 IP while striking out 14. If he can keep that up, he could help out the ML team this season.

I don’t remember any good results from Guduan at the MLB level. Am I forgetting something? He has pitched a good inning here and there at the MLB level, but never consistently. His issue has always been lack of control. 2-3 years ago he was throwing his fastball 99-100 mph regularly. Last season he was throwing in the 95-96 mph range and I wondered if maybe the coaching staff had him backing off a bit in an effort to gain more control. The guy has a funky delivery. Doesn’t seem to repeat his delivery well. If he could somehow overcome the control issues, he could be a good one, I think. Just not sure he will ever do that.

Wow. I just looked at Corpus Christi’s website and Gilberto Celestino was added to their roster today. He is rated the Astros #15 prospect by mlb.com. He just turned 19 years old this past February. His only professional experience is 38 games in the Dominican Summer League and 18 games with the Astros Rookie League team in Florida in 2016 plus 59 games with the Astros Rookie League team in Greenville in 2017. He has not played at all in 2018 yet they are having him skip A ball and start the season in AA with Corpus Christi. He must really be something special.

Here is what mlb.com has to say about Celestino:
“Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 40 | Run: 50 | Arm: 55 | Field: 60 | Overall: 45
Though he's still a teenager, Celestino has a long track record at performing at international events such as the 2011 Cal Ripken World Series (when he was 12), the 2013 Pan American 15-and-under championships and the 2015 National High School Invitational. His combination of tools and aptitude led the Astros to sign him for $2.5 million out of the Dominican Republic in '15. He came to the United States at the end of his 2016 pro debut, when he was the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League's youngest regular (age 17) in the final month.
Scouts constantly liken Celestino to the Cubs' Albert Almora, and the comparison works on multiple levels. They stand out most as skilled defenders in center field whose instincts help them play well above their average speed, and their hitting ability is more impressive than their power potential. They may not have lofty ceilings, but they have high floors and should become solid contributors in the big leagues.
A rare lefty thrower who hits right-handed, Celestino has an advanced feel for hitting and walked (25) more than he struck out (23) in his introduction to pro ball in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League. He has a quick bat and could grow into average power as he matures physically. He shows some savvy on the basepaths and owns a strong, accurate arm.”
