McCurry is definitely forcing himself into the conversation. McCurry is a guy who having been suspended has had the desired effect on him. I am hoping Whitley will respond the same way.

Whitley is a good kid. He will be fine. Just had his head up his four pointed contact and got caught. He is not a Tim Tebow kind of guy but he is pretty straight laced.

General Question......
Why do we have our AAA affiliate all the way over in CA? Seems we should have made a deal for a closer location to foster local interest in the big club. I forgot the details of the OKC move to Fresno, but I know it also sure hurts our chances of being in the vicinity to catch a game.

I am not sure if this is right..., the Ryans own the Round Rock team. If I recall correctly the Astros AAA affiliate ended up in OKC when their contract with Round Rock expired and the Rangers signed a deal with Round Rock. Then when the Astros contract with OKC expired the Dodgers signed a deal with OKC to put their AAA team in OKC and that is when the Astros AAA affiliate moved to Fresno. I think the Rangers contract with Round Rock expires after this season and from what I have read the Astros will move their AAA affiliate back to Round Rock next season.

And something about San Antonio getting a new team or the Missions being reassigned to another MLB club (maybe Rangers?)

We enjoy going to the games in San Antonio. We went a few years ago and watched Gallo and company play. The San Diego team had Renfro and Hedges.

Hmm.., I wonder what the story is with Nick Hernandez. I just checked the rosters of all the Astros minor league affiliates and his name still doesn’t appear on any roster. Baseball Reference doesn’t show him assigned to any minor league team this year either. Nick Hernandez is Keyser Soze!!!

Tucker, White, and Armenteros all had a good night last night. If Tucker keeps playing like he has so far, either Fisher or Marisnick will be moving off the active roster in Houston around mid-June. If White continues to rake at AAA and the Astros offense continues to struggle, it is going to be hard to justify keeping White at AAA. If Armenteros continues to pitch like he did last night; Colin continues to pitch well and Dallas and LMJ continue to struggle, how long before Hinch/Luhnow consider making a change in the starting rotation?

I agree that by mid June we will see changes of some sort. I doubt that all those things happen but rest assured 1,2,or 3 most certainly will

Honestly I'm not high on Brendan McCurry. He's probably just this year's Jankowski.

Please, someone usurp Gattis’s hold on the DH job. I’m tired of him hitting like a caveman holding an obnoxiously large fish.

good day today in the minors, 3-0 with a rainout. two shutouts to boot. Emanuel starting to show promise in AAA I’m hoping Emanuel can continue to pitch well. I went back and looked at his game logs from last season and he gave up 36 earned runs in 38 innings pitched in his last 8 starts last season so the way he has pitched so far this year is a pleasant surprise. Another good sign is that he has only walked 2 in 11 innings pitched this year.

Ronnie Dawson is off to a slow start again this year....even slower than last year. Looking at his spilts and game logs from last year, he batted .250 in April and .181 in May in A ball before he started hitting around the second week of June. He ended up batting .272 in 116 games at A ball and .327 in 13 games at Advanced A in 2017. Just looking at his GO/AO ratio, I think he is a guy that the team will work with on adjusting his swing to get more loft on the ball as he advances to AA and AAA. His GO/AO ratio has been pretty consistently around 1.50 at Low A, A and Advanced A since being drafted in the second round in 2016.

Good to see Dawson starting to hit a little.
Benedetti smoking along at 355. Not bad. In fact the outfield in CC is pretty strong with Alvarez in left, Straw in center and Benedetti in right looking pretty impressive.
Keep an eye on Quintana. I bet before the year is out he is in AAA
