Merrifield could easily make the three of us happier fans. Honestly, I don't think he's be an improvement over Kemp. If Springer gets his stroke back, Kemp, Springer and Reddick are just fine. And if Tucker finds his MLB stroke like he's did in Spring Training and every other level, we already have too many outfielders. There are a lot of pundits who agree that most of the trade targets don't make a whole lot of sense for us, given that we're still pretty loaded on the roster. To be honest, I personally don't think there's an available reliever that I trust to be that much more than marginally better than what we got enough to trade prospects for
The only trade target that makes sense if you ask me is Shin-Soo Choo, cause his veteran 126 OPS+ career bat can make a difference, given that he's hitting 141 this year and he fills a need at LF/DH. I'm just not so sure what the likelihood of landing him is having to negotiate with our rival

Y'all really want to make a mid-season trade for someone who won't play every day? Merrifield at LF, Kemp DH, Gattis C My hunch is if Luhnow went up to Hinch and said Gattis is our postseason catcher, they'd burst out laughing thinking it was a joke. His mitt and a pitch in the dirt are rarely in the same place at the right timeRamos or another catcher would make sense to me now that I think about it though

At this point, I only see Realmuto as an upgrade sufficient to lose prospects. How much better is he than Stubbs? Is it worth the prospects required to make a trade? If the answer is yes, then I think we'd be better off for this year and the next two.

Did you notice after Springer's HR in the ASG, the first 4 to congratulate him in order were Bregman, Ramos, Hinch & Salvador Perez?

Tyler White is not in the lineup for Fresno again tonight. If he is not injured, something must be up on the trade front involving him. He is not on the DL.
JD Davis was not in the Fresno lineup yesterday and he isn’t in the lineup again today. He is not on the DL.
I can’t find any mention of either of those guys being injured.
Astros roster still at 24.

What, if anything, do you think is up with Tyler White and JD Davis being held out of the Fresno lineup the last couple days? I mean, they are playing Antonio Nunez, Nick Tanielu and Jack Mayfield and keeping White and Davis on the bench. Seems a bit odd.

(2) Sometimes I also think MLB GM's are also in a 10 man (competing teams) chess match. Jedi Master Luhnow may be doing the decoy thing, to force the hands of other GM's. Thank goodness ours plays ninth dimensional chess, while a few others are playing checker. (3) More playing for some who may be on the cusp of truly being either MLB prospects or perpetual minor leaguers.

(4) The players who are playing might be part of the packages being discussed in trades. A little streak might be all that is needed to get us over the top in a trade. Upside for those playing well. There might not be that same upside for White and Davis who have already established their value.
On second thought, that's (2) and (3) rephrased. Never Mind.

I see JD as another player who, like Kemp, has never been put in the lineup and given consistent playing time and might like Kemp, given consistent playing time, prove to be a productive ML player. I’m thinking Yuli will be moving to DL to replace Gattis next season.
