Interesting rumor of the day Reds could Send Barnhart, 1 of there top three and a low end player to Miami for J.T. Realmuto. But top Brass say no way any of our top 3.
Also notes if they get Barnhart they could trade him to acquire more prospects. Seems to be some love for Tony Kemp and Garret Stubbs by Marlins Brass and it could be a great fit for Barnhart

I think he'd prefer Miami.

The journos are saying Shawn Kelley is close to signing with the Rangers. he's a risky signing with his injury history but I wouldn't have minded him in Houston on a cheap deal. He's probably worth 40 quality innings and right now the Astros have about 120 to 150 bullpen innings to assign to quality relievers.

The Mets and Marlins get to see a lot of the Astros minor league talent in spring training games every year.
Davis was a beast in ST last year and I can easily see the Mets starting to think about acquiring him at that time, knowing it would be hard for Davis to stick with the Astros.
Marlins might similarly have been impressed with Kemp in his ST games, flying through the air like Mighty Mouse and all. They may well have liked what they saw Kemp do as a follow-up in the regular season.
Only two days remain if the Astros are going to get something more done in the month of January....

The AFC Asian Cup (soccer) is the big sports event in town. Vietnam lost to Iran, Iraq, and Japan but hey, they beat Yemen so woo-hoo! Actually, I couldn't care less about soccer.

Apparently Chris Nunn (formerly of the Hooks) is going to start the season with the Rangers AAA club.
Unless those guys want to part with Leclerc, I really don't want them stockpiling former Astros farm hands. They will bring to Arlington all of Orbit's secret decoder rings.

I don't see Kemp bringing us anything in return outside of a young prospect. Idk but if it is true Barnhart for Stubbs and Kemp would be fair to me I'm not seeing how Barnhart is an improvement. He's a below replacement level hitter and doesn't frame pitches. He's also declining in throwing out runners. He's basically Jake behind the plate if Jake had a weak arm.
Kemp would be a good addition to 20 of the 30 teams in the league. We just happen to be stacked with position players after getting Brantley. Kemps not bad. We're that good top to bottom.

I haven't followed Barnhart but just looking at his stats, he doesn't seem superior to Stassi overall. Maybe a bit better on defense, but also a bit weaker on offense. They're about the same age.
Stassi has an extra year on his contract compared with Barnhart, and Stassi still earns the minimum whereas Barnhart is around $4M/year.
I would stick with Stassi unless the Marlins have good prospects they want to send over.

All I can say is 4yrs of team control on a lowish deal club option on his last yr.
.250 avg or above 10ish HRs
He seems reasonable His def isnt bad he is a gold glover. His power isnt Posey lvl but he does call a good game gets on base

Reds and Marlins still apart on prospects.
Still seems like Jeter is playing Peter to pay paul.
I still see the Astros getting him. But Jeter is making himself look very bad

The Marlins want a Young LHP, a Starting OF who is a LHH. And a Top 5ish Prospect of not a top 10 and a lower lotto ticket prospect.
Makes since now why Tony Kemp is a player they like.
Framber Valdez makes since on the LHP
Yordan Alvarez could be the other piece?
Heard they love Valdez (Astros) so that may be the deal breaker

Castellanos of the Tigers hasn't even gotten a call on by Clubs. Makes you wonder on what the Tigers have told people about him or the word on his value is? Castellanos wants a trade .. Tigers GM doesn't

Tigers GM doesn'tI don't think that's accurate, according to what I've read: Avila does want to trade him but there haven't been any offers yet.

Translation: the Tigers want to deal Castellanos near the trade deadline, but he wants out now. He wants to sign with what ever team he goes to I guess. He is a good player. He has actually shown some speed as of last year and could be a great 1B with time in that postion. Might be a good spot to start him for two preaseasons to see if he can ha del it. But DH and spot COF is about it

Translation: the Tigers want to deal Castellanos near the trade deadline, but he wants out now. Not sure if that's the case, either. From what I've been reading, they want to do a trade before the season starts but might be forced to wait until the deadline if they don't get a decent offer before the season starts.

Castellanos wants a trade .. Tigers GM doesn't I don't think that's accurate, according to what I've read: Avila does want to trade him but there haven't been any offers yet. Well there was talks of Avila saying top prospects two teams called Dodgers and Braves both ran for the hills. Nothing since . A recent report says Nick wants out asap. And same report says Avila wants to hold him till deadline. Kinda looks like not wanting to trade him, Astros should be all over Nick. His age and bat and the fact he has shown improvement over his years is the biggest plus. He is still young enough to learn aswell. A winning environment plus the Astros have shown intereast in him before . Which makes u think he could be a target of what ever they are doing at this moment they miss out on
