I don't think the Angel's want Kemp. Kemp + Reed + Ken Griffey Jr Rookie Upperdeck Card? They should throw in Ohtani for that card.

I remember a thread at the old board about 10 or so years ago, where this was discussed. I think we pretty much came to consensus that owners and players should pony up to help supplement MiLB salaries. Back in college ('70's) I knew a Royals minor league player who didn't get above AA. Poor guy would get pretty emotional about it. Specifically..... !. Was bitter 2. Admitted he wasted 10 years of his life 3. With the lure of making the show, and what that entails? Would have done it all over again. Come on..... MLB players union and owners........ temper the greed factor and do what is right. Not only is this the proving grounds for MLB, it provides entertainment to millions annually.

Don't room, board, and travel during the season all get covered though?

Give the writer a brake. He was under a lot of stress. His checking account was overdrawn and the rent was do.

Don't room, board, and travel during the season all get covered though? According to this 3 year old article, some have to get by with $1500 /mo. and a $25 / day per diem. Pretty tough to eat and lodge for $25/day nowadays. link

If you want to have some fun go to a convenience store and buy a soda and some gum. When they say it is 2.61 give them a 5 and then wait til they open the drawer and then hand them another .11. Sit back and watch their head explode. Second grade math makes grown men and women's head hurt. The marvels of a modern education.

I suppose I'm in the minority, but I'm not overly concerned about the rotation. I'd take Keuchel back on a cheap, short-term deal, but I don't see it happening. I'd also like to have TJR, but I won't cry if it doesn't happen. Fullmer would be nice to have. The team looks good as constructed, but another BP arm would help.

Pretty tough to eat and lodge for $25/day nowadays. linkI believe the $25 is for food a day. That's plenty for a day. Sure, it won't be steak dinners every night, but it gets reasonable meals at reasonable restaurants. $1500 a month with little to no food or lodging/utility bills during the season is perfectly fine, imo. I think most of us have done fine with that or less when we were young men. And I think most young men pursing their dreams and the potential for multi-million dollar contracts (or even "just" several hundred thousand dollar salaries) are fine being paid at all during the season. The only problem I see, is that it can be tough to find good/reasonable jobs for only part of a year since you can't very well commit to anything full-time. But, it's a sacrifice/gamble that they know going into it. I'll always remember Biggio coming to speak at a youth baseball camp I participated in and telling us how important it was to finish school or training/certifications so that you had a backup plan if things didn't work out (since it doesn't for most).

We'd still be in trouble if we signed any of the available FA's.
