I don't think he is a BP, well at least not yet, maybe in a couple years he stands to be. Astros need an innings eater, and Keuchel would be ideal if he would sign a 2 year deal. Given the Astros need, and how Keuchel is the top FA left on the market, I would not be opposed to a 2 year/36M deal with a 22M third year team option (which I think would never be exercise d). You will scoff that is an overpay, but a 2 year deal for Keuchel; if you look at this year's rotation and even more importantly next year's, really matches the Astros big need. Best 1. 1 year deal with 2nd year team option 2. 2 year deal with 3rd year team option 3. 2 year deal 4. 1 year deal Not wanting, but if it had to happen - 3 year deal Hell no - anything longer than 3 years. Wondr if he would take a 5/$45M with incentives? I would think not....and even that is a very low salary per year, I just do not like the thought of him pitching for the team 4 and 5 years from now. I would think at that time, he would be a waste of a roster space. |

Lot of people here judging a guy trying to make more money. None of us would turn down trying to get more money. Just saying. That conceited jackass has turned into a batting practice pitcher and still wants to be paid like an ace.........piss on him Disagreements on his remaining value aside, I don't think a guy is a jackass for pursuing better career opportunities. He very well may be a jackass, I don't know, but pursuing free agency alone doesn't make him one, imo. |

I saw somebody else posted that Maldonado turned down a two year offer from us early in the off-season. I'm surprised he would do that given his horrible postseason and unimpressive 2018 season. He might be lucky to get a minor league deal at this point...
Today's players, or their agents, are really doing a poor job assessing their real value.

I saw somebody else posted that Maldonado turned down a two year offer from us early in the off-season. I'm surprised he would do that given his horrible postseason and unimpressive 2018 season. He might be lucky to get a minor league deal at this point... Today's players, or their agents, are really doing a poor job assessing their real value.  |

I would definitely put that in the underperform category...

...but not quite to Harris levels yet.
I hope that's from working on new pitches they would never use during the season.

I hate to say this but we're so due to have the bullpen completely suck the entire season. Not since Borter was the manager. The front office seems to think there's enough arms in the minors to patch
it up though
