Tampa is going to designate CJ Cron for assignment. He is 28 years old and hit .253 with 30 homers and 74 rbis last season. Don't know much about him. Could he possibly be a candidate as a DH to replace Gattis?

I'm not for sure but can Cron play 1B or LF as well as DH?
Just curious.
Twins checked in on Goldshmidt but could look at Smoak

Don't mention any home town discounts, or the green guy gets kind of testy.  Just because "home town discounts" is dumb. I agree. Only reason it makes sense is if you had a great player at the end of his career who wants to play for a certain franchise. |

He can play both corner OF spots and both corner Inf spots. He bats LEFT. That's the biggest plus. He would take over left if Tucker cant handle it. You gotta see the value in him. |

I dont have alot of faith in Tucker. I think he is his brother 2.0.
I hope I'm wrong but idk.
I dont wanna run out Springer Jake and Reddick.
If they thought about Brantley they should really look at Dietrich.

You want Cruz? The PED user? Didn't say I didn't want one for a DH........I said I don't want them in the HOF.  He's the best DH available in my opinion. He did his suspension. I don't remember those guys on the HOF ballot ever paying for their crime. |

Either scenario works for me.
Doesn't our situation seem great. Just think..... 6 or 7 years ago, our hot stove conversations where focusing on how additionally f'ed we were.

Anybody else find it odd that we did not take our 40 man roster up to 40. Counting guys who will not play next year (McCullers), we have 3 openings.

Springer Altuve Bregman Goldshmidt Cruz Correra The Catcher Reddick Tucker That wouldnt be a very scary lineup I wouldnt put it past anything. We lost 4 bats I would not be surprised if we added 4 meaningful bats to replace. |

The more we see stuff like Cronn being released for nothing makes me wonder how cheaply we could bring Gattis back...
Catching depth if needed, backup plan if White doesn't work out, etc. If you sign him for a $1-2 million on a one year deal and he sucks, you're barely losing anything... And there is always the possibility that he can still have a productive year. There are worse things than having a DH that averages 23 HR and a .775 OPS for super cheap.
Obviously if we really do sign Cruz there would be no need unless they were going to have Gattis do more catching.

1. Sign Cruz to a one-year deal with an option for a second year.
2. Sign Goldschmidt when he becomes a free agent.
3. Use prospects to trade for Realmuto or Perez.
We do not need Grienke.
