I like White, he is one of those over achievers. What he did at the end of the year last year was to build up his trade value. If someone says no not that prospect, give me White then I am pretty sure he is gone. Kind of funny though, out of all those bats that we have had at AAA he is the only one to really do anything in the bigs.

There's no point in arguing about Stassi anymore. If Stassi is our worst position player and is considered "average" even by you, then you have a hell of a team. The point is that we're not necessarily in need of all these giant splashy moves we all keep going back and forth on. Get a real DH, re-sign Morton, and then to try to get one more controllable pitcher. Boom. Done. Are you actually implying that we should be content with Stassi as our regular catcher?? I know you know better than to think that will work. Sign Cruz as the DH, re-sign Morton, sign a FA catcher in case Stubbs is not ready. If Stubbs is ready, trade Stassi. Sign or trade for a decent starting pitcher as long as Whitley and Tucker are not included in any deal. I think it would be nice to upgrade at catcher or at least add some veteran depth, but, yes, I'd be fine with Stassi and Stubbs. Looks like we're about to sign Chirinos though. That would be a good pick-up depending on the money.

I like Tyler White and all, but he’s had three years to prove he can mash in the pros the way he does at AAA. What worries me is he’ll hit and then just disappear. Quite often, he did Ensberg’s “deer in the headlights” look watching strikeouts. We already had Correa doing that, which compounded the annoyance of it all. Cruz is almost 40, but I’ll still take him at DH over White. And in two out of the three years he DID smash. I'd still like Cruz, but White should be on the roster.

6-years $140 million....Wow. Anybody think Keuchel won't get at least a 4-year $80 million deal now?

I have gone back over the Luhnow interviews and reread all of them from mid October on. Either he is putting on one hell of a act or he really has no intention of pulling off a big trade. Basically we would have to fleece someone to pull off a blockbuster. No Corbin, no Harper, no Keuchel, no Pollock, No Syndergaard, no Realmuto, no big dogs, just useful short term signings. Let the kids play and do something like a Verlander deal at the deadline.

And that's really all we need. We've replaced Marwin with somebody controllable and cheaper with a higher ceiling. And now we've replaced McCann/Maldonado with a veteran catcher that should be very reasonably-priced and has been fairly productive offensively.
Now we just need some pitching depth and a DH. If we can do that without using our top prospects and signing any long-term deals, I'll be very pleased.

Sources indicate Braves discussions with Marlins for Realmuto include a pkg built around 3B Austin Riley & P Michael Soroka. Marlins are still listening to offers from other clubs.
Wild they have two already decent C looks like one will be heading out the door if that deal goes down.

The door is shut on Realmuto I would believe at this point. But i dont think Tucker is off the Hook yet. There still could be opportunities out there that may catch the Astros eye.
On another note Astros are not done

Do you still sell Max Stassi posters? I want one. he probably has a life-sized one on the ceiling of his bedroom. Like Suzanne Somers?

Chirinos threw out just 6 of 59 runners attempting to steal last year. Hopefully most of those successful steals were on the pitcher.

So is a jaded, ugly girl that no one pays attention to, ones that try to sabotage everyone else getting some...Sherwin, before you got married to a fine lady, thank you for falling on the grenade so many times...

The Marlins are asking way too much for Realmuto. I hope signing Chirinos means we are done discussing that. I hope this also means any idea of trading Tucker is over, too. Don't be surprised if Chirinos hits 20 home runs for us. I am happy with Chirinos signing: keep top prospects and the firm of Stubbs & Stassi are the future!
