So do we know why Verlander hates this reporter so much that the team is now going to accrue some type of fine from the league? As much as I like the guy as a player, here is another example of him being a little bit of a diva. (Unless the reporter made some kind of threats or insulted JV's family or something.) Best I can tell, the reporter has been critical of the Tigers front office on the rebuild, and Justin still has some love for those guys My guess is he expected Frenech wanted him to say something snarky about Detroit that had nothing to do with the ballgame
He also has a history of DUIs and sexual harrassment, and allegedly tried to out the source on a story that debunked one of his stories
Or he got drunk and hit on Kate.

Or he got drunk and hit on Kate. I'm sure the Detroit Press Rag would've had that story since they've been ripping this Frenech guy to pieces over the last few years
But Hunter McCormick can probably let us know whether that's a reputable publication or not

Here is what I got off the net. "Started in 1831, the Detroit Free Press was originally known as the "Democratic Free Press." Liberal leaning, the Pulitzer-Prize-winning paper has the largest circulation in the city. It is also a party to a joint-operating agreement with The Detroit News, the other main daily newspaper in Detroit. That might mean something.

The Press Rag goes after the DFP like Breitbart and the NY Times Not that I'm defending the NYT

I don't know anything about Detroit Press Rag but I disagree with most things I've read that were written by Anthony Fenech.
That's not to say that Justin isn't being a diva (I don't know the particulars of this situation), but if Justin is behind barring Fenech, I tend to think he has good reason.

Votto on the IL. He's having by far the worst season of his career and essentially a below-average hitter this year. The Reds still have a minimum of $107 million invested in him over the next 4-5 years. That could end up being a pretty bad contract for them if he doesn't bounce back next year.

I believe it was Thomas who was all in on getting him from Reds a while back. Bullet dodged.

Yes, but he's also in possession of the magical Weber grill, so we can't be too harsh on him lest he deprive the Stros at playoff time.

I think Mrs. Thomas might have sold the Weber in a garage sale. We rarely see him mention it this season.

Currently sitting on a 108 OPS+ (Yuli's is over 130, for comparison) with only 1 SB and below-average defense. Goldy is guaranteed a minimum of $130 million over the next 5 years.

We're talking about things that actually exist, Maytag Man To the Bills fan it would be a different story. Then again we Stros fan's have felt the pain. I like the idea of the most crappiest people on earth having to wait 108 years between championships. Maybe my great great grandchildren will see another flub victory come say about 2124.

The story about the Dilly bar:
I grew up dirt poor. Appalachian poor. My whole childhood, I'd wanted a Dilly bar, because they were basically the most popular dessert snack in east Texas back then. I never got one, because we never had the money to buy it (or to even eat out...when we rarely went to DQ, I had to share a burger with a brother.)
My older brother played Little League, and they would go to DQ after every game. Mom and I would go, but I never got a snack because I wasn't on the team (no participation trophies back then) and we didn't have the money to buy one.
So today, nearly 50 years later, I took my 7-year-old granddaughter out on our monthly Poppy Date. We went to Cracker Barrel for dinner, then to Dairy Queen for dessert. When I walked in, I saw a huge sign advertising boxes of Dilly bars being sold. I asked the cashier if I could buy a single Dilly bar...she says "Of course!". So, I tell her the above story about growing up poor. She cried a little, and gave me a free Dilly bar. Though I pulled myself out of poverty and can now buy anything I want (within reason), I finally got a Dilly bar...and didn't have to pay a dime for it.
And it was amazing.

The dilly bar is a true legend but next time try a butter finger blizard. Yummy!

Oh, I've had most of the blizzards (my grandkid got a cotton candy one tonight)...but that Dilly Bar held special significance since it had been a childhood desire that took me nearly 60 years to fulfill

^^^Could that be one of the Reasons they haven't brought up Tucker yet. I can't think of many other reasons. They keep bringing up players that are wowed by the MLB pitching.

Josh Donaldson is sure putting together a nice season on his one-year deal. Lots of them have great years when trying for a multi-year deal and some put so much pressure on themselves that they have terrible years.
