Curt Schilling had the same issues that Whitley has. Schilling credits Roger Clemens with helping him get his head screwed on correctly. Maybe we should send old Roger to Florida and have him have a come to Jesus with Whitley.

That's not going to work out if he's feeling good Monday and we don't have a SP to rotate The problem with the rotation is they’re trying to fix an issue that pretty much all of us realized was going to be an issue back before Spring Training. Some didn't want Keuchel back and some didn't want Morton back. Moving Peacock to the bullpen doesn't address that though

Moving Peacock to the bullpen doesn't address that thoughI’m one of the rare ones who didn’t mind Morton gone and only wanted Keuchel back if he accepted the QO. However, I didn’t think just throwing Peacock and McHugh in there was good enough. Thank goodness for Miley.

I don't think any of us expected James, Whitley, Valdez, and Martin to all be ineffective or unavailable though.

Lee finally had a good game in July. He had three hits last night for Tri-City. He was ugly for July before last night and is still only hitting 263. In his defense he has played more than 30 more games than he is accustomed to.

Tucker went 0-4 in yesterday’s game. He is batting .226 over his last 10 games with more Ks (9) than hits (7) in 31 ABs. Our prospects are not making Luhnow’s job any easier.

Beer had a good night last night going 2-4 with a home run.
Also Pena is hitting 333 since his call up to the peckerwoods.

I hope that if Tucker is gone, Luhnow steps up and extends Springer.

If true, what do you think? I think OFers are the easiest position players to replace. If there’s one major qualm I have with Luhnow is his lack of staggered contracts. Normally, I’d say yes to trading Tucker, but our entire outfield might be gone in a couple years. They’ve got to have something good out there. Between Pence and Springer, how many legitimate outfielders have they promoted recently?

Pena is really starting to open up some eyes. He is a pretty good prospect and will make a big jump up in our prospect list for mid season.

Tucker got into the game last night for Round Rock as a first baseman. He has now played multiple games there and it would not surprise me that he goes the Bellinger route and comes up as a first baseman if he sticks with us. Beer is playing almost exclusive first base as well. He came up 6 times last night and had 3 walks but no hits. He is still hitting over 300 and his ops is around 950. Toro is still knocking the snot out of the ball as well at just below 300 with an ops close to 900.

If someone would have told me back in April that our need for pitching in July would be this dire? I'd thought they would have been crazy. Farm chess pieces that we thought would not be untouchable for trade, have suddenly become in play.

Do you think that Tucker gets traded or that he becomes our Olerud? I think he is traded I think it will take either Tucker or Whitley to get us the kind of SP we need with some team control. Whitley has really hurt his trade value this season. Tucker has really struggled at times, but in spite of that he still has 24 home runs and is batting .270ish.

At this point I am starting to think that long term Beer is a better player for us to keep. He seems to man first well and his hit tool always seems to play.
