The winner of the Pacific Coast League championship series will play the International League champion in the AAA Championship Game in Memphis, Tennessee on September 17. The Astros AAA affiliate, Fresno, won the AAA Championship in 2015 by beating Columbus (Indians) 7-0. Chris Devenski started that game for Fresno and pitched 7 innings allowing no runs, one hit, walked none and struck out 9. Devenski was named MVP of the 2015 AAA Championship game.

It speaks well of our farm system that, even after trading away 3 of our top 10 and another top 30 prospect to get Greinke, and even with all the prospects we called up in September, two of our affiliates have made it to their league’s championship finals series.

Some other guys I'm looking forward to seeing at AA next season are Luis Garcia, Nivaldo Rodriguez and Jojanse Torres. Another who was promoted to AA late this season and could be in AAA by this time next season is Brett Conine. I am hoping Bielak, Javier and Abreu are helping in Houston by this time next year. Also hoping that Whitley resolves whatever physical and psychological issues he is facing and realizes the potential he showed in his first couple years in pro ball.

My opinion is that Abreu will be in the pen and Javier will be in the rotation come next April. Bielak confuses me a bit in that I think he has a lot going for him I just do not know if he will put it all together next year. Whitley is a coin toss, who knows. I know he can be dominant if he gets his head screwed on right, the question is will he. Tucker is up to stay and so is Straw. Toro I think depends on what happens with Correa. All things considered we have a lot going for us now and a lot to look forward to. I can not remember a time when that was the case and as I type this I am looking at a home run ball signed by Walter Bond.

I used to chew a lot of gum to get those baseball cards.

I used to chew a lot of gum to get those baseball cards. My son and I used to collect baseball and football cards when he was very young. We collected a shoe box of each and some of them I am sure are worth some money now. We had a couple different Biggio and Bagwell rookie cards and had a few signed, well after the fact of course but signed none the less. We also have the entire 92 starting offensive for the Oilers and each card is signed. I remember standing there talking to Bruce Matthews while trying to get this new camera to focus and then finally got it that way and he stood out there taking pictures with us after the morning drills to training camp. He was soaking wet with sweat and yet took the time to do that. Man that was great, my daughter had a real crush on him for a while after that. I need to find all of that stuff and put it together for them and pass it along.

Speaking of our Tee Hitter, Astros are 14-4 since August 20 without I L Correa You like how he actually hit inside pitches then? He hasn’t had a hit in the Astros’ last 18 games. I’m sure he’s not in so much pain that he can’t hit it at home though.
