Stephen Wrenn was promoted from AA to Round Rock yesterday. He has been struggling lately. Only batting .231 over his last 10 games and is batting .271 for the season, so his promotion wouldn’t seem to be a reward for outstanding play. I’m wondering if maybe the Astros might be preparing to promote an outfielder to the big club and Wrenn will be his replacement on the AAA roster. Maybe an Yordan landing? Maybe. That would be nice, but with the Astros in first in the division at this point, I will be surprised if they bring up Alvarez or Tucker before the second week of June. |

Have they announced the extra position player they are allowed for the series in Mexico? I believe it must be someone on the 40 man roster, but there is space on the 40 man if I'm seeing updated roster info which shows 38 roster spots. This could have something to do with that.

"The Astros are likely to call up outfielder Derek Fisher for the two games. Fisher, who was hitting .296 with six homers at 14 RBIs at Triple-A Round Rock, provides speed and a left-handed bat off the bench." |

Alvarez finished 2-4 today with his 11th double and 13th home run in 101 at-bats this year. Now batting .406 with 18 walks vs 22 strikeouts and a OPS of 1.401.
Tucker went 0-3 with a walk and a strikeout.

Alvarez finished 2-4 today with his 11th double and 13th home run in 101 at-bats this year. Now batting .406 with 18 walks vs 22 strikeouts and a OPS of 1.401. Tucker went 0-3 with a walk and a strikeout. Luhnow once said that they liked to see a guy have success for at least 100 at bats before checking the box of having sustained success at a level and be ready for promotion. So Alvarez has now checked that box and hitting like he is the only reason not to promote him is to save money on the super 2 status. And I guess the need to find a home for Kemp and White in that order. |

I wonder how much of Tucker's early season struggles were driven by shear disappointment on not making the club out of spring training.
