Bump. Looks like garbage. Could’ve been worse. He could’ve hit it again to the 3B.

I think we should DH Brantley and call up one of the Round Rockers. I'm willing to give White some more time, but if he can't get it going I'd love to see that with Straw in CF and hitting 9th consistently. fast forward 11 days, White is hitting .297 and Altuve "only" .289. Has this ever been a good week for fans of The Shark.

For the record, after bumping Altuve walked and hit his HR.

Straw will get his day in the big leagues soon... he's too good to stay in AAA much longer. Injuries on the Astros, or a trade to get some good pitching, will get Straw to the Show by summer.

The odds seem pretty remote to me that White would maintain a low SLG if given 100 PA's. What we are seeing now with the low SLG is mostly random noise coupled with the effects of all this 'going up the middle, going oppo' effort. When/if White allows himself to pull the ball again, he will start sending a good number of pitches up to the Crawford Boxes and then his SLG will approach .500.

At the end of the day, if all of ours guys could maintain .350+ OBP while slumping the way White has, we would never have a bad game.

As I said earlier, I think he's just not game-ready because he was limited in his reps during ST. Once he knocks off the rust, he'll be back to normal production. So are we still thinking he's just not game-ready?

So are we still thinking he's just not game-ready? No, now I think he's injured. I'm starting to lean that way too. He has had some bad luck with balls in play not finding holes, but he's also looking at early strikes a lot (which he doesn't do when he's hot) and not running as well as he normally does. Could be frustration, injury, or both....

I know he's frustrated. Remember him slamming his bat and helmet the other night? Never seen him do that.

I think the frustration with not being his old self yet is leading him to push himself too hard. I think he’ll be fine.

It will be interesting to see what the reports on Altuve are. If he needs time on the IR, it opens up a spot on the 25 man roster.
I know Diaz will be the first to play 2B, but will Kemp actually get to play there? Who knows.
Possible Lineup w/o Altuve
1. R Springer 1B .984 2. L Alvarez LF 1.345 (AAA) 3. R Bregman 2B .933 4. L Brantley DH .979 5. R Correa SS .904 6. R Chirinos C .922 7. L Reddick RF .823 8. R Gurriel 3B .801 9. R Marisnick CF .859
Perhaps switch Springer to 2B if he can handle it and leave Gurriel and Bregman in customary positions at 1B and 3B respectively.

Another possibility is to bring up Mayfield who is 28, plays 2B, and is having a solid season at Round Rock. If successful, it adds trade value.

I'm not comfortable with the current roster if Altuve goes on the IL. Diaz moves to 2B, but that's the shallowest depth position in the organization. The prospects are all in the lower levels. All we have are journeymen Minor leaguers and Kemp hasn't played 2B since I've been watching, even though he apparently has a history there. There is probably a reason.

It's now official. Well I had a link to a video about Altuve being officially placed on the IL, but it's not working. What can you expect form a 21st century Luddite.
