The only redeeming aspects of this game were:
1) Keuchel got the CG without having to risk giving up runs and marring the night by going out for the 9th.
2) Lots of line drives hit on the nose (if the Astros keep on doing that, they will have some big innings)
oh, and
3) bullpen will be well-rested for the next games of the series. All weapons locked and loaded.

I feel sorry for our starting pitchers as they keep pitching gems and have nothing to show for it because of our pathetic offense. Our 6-9 hitters have to be the worst in baseball. I douvbt if any team is getting less production from the DH spot. I am sick of looking at Gattis, Marwin, and Jake.
Our starting rotation is lights out and our hitters can't hit a bull in the ass with a bass fiddle.

Another GDT without thomasj13. That’s our problem.

Don’t make me join your anti-Marwin bandwagon. Right now, it’s looking very tempting.

Maybe some of these guys need to stop making TV commercials and concentrate on hitting. It is sad to watch the same team that was the best offense in baseball last year and win the WS hit like a AA team.

Man, I said that winning the World Series should not lead to resting on laurels and thinking that the same guys can get it done just like last year. You’ve got to reinforce the squad. Something tells me that adding Joe Smith and Hector Rondón don’t leave other teams quivering in their cleats.
Gattis is not a good DH. Marwin is not a starting LF; he’s a utility player (therefore useless as DH). Marisnick is Fresno fodder. Fisher is outmatched. The rest are going to do okay, but a third of your offense is spotty. You can cram the three at the end of the lineup, but that still puts added pressure on the other six.
Moves need to eventually be made to strengthen that bottom part of the order, which was once the best in baseball. Zach Britton would be nice and all, but hopefully Kyle Tucker will eventually fix the LF situation.

When he goes to the plate, I expect a strikeout and he usually delivers as expected.

Zach Britton would be nice and all, but hopefully Kyle Tucker will eventually fix the LF situation. All very valid points. And when 1/3 of the lineup is useless, it really cuts your hit total by half -- not just a third -- because now pitchers will stay at the edges of the plate and induce swings at balls out of the zone against your good hitters, whom they don't mind walking since they know the next guy is an easy strikeout. Last year, the opposite effect occurred, where -- because ever hitter was so solid -- pitchers had to pitch in the zone much more and simply take their chances. That's how the Astros created a snowball effect where good hitting begat good hitting.

McCann and Bregman were part of that lethal portion of the batting order. One is on an aged decline and is likely not returning while the other has earned the second spot of the lineup. I don’t know what Hinch should do.
Realmuto would be a bigger necessity than Britton, but I can’t see a deal being done with Jeter that wouldn’t hurt the Astros.

Damn Marisnick now has struck out in 49% of his plate appearances.
Send him to Fresno.
Also send Hoyt to Fresno because we don't need 13 pitchers with our quality rotation now and the built in off days.
Bring up White and JD Davis. Both of them can also play left field if needed. And both can also pitch if we run out of pitchers.
