So let's see how badly we need another SP for the regular season: Assuming we continue to win games at the same rate we do now with Cole-Verlander-Miley (.683) we should win 26 more of their starts. Assuming we only win as many as games as Baltimore with our other 2 spots (.305) we should win 7 of those remaining starts. Those 33 total wins would put as at 94 for the season, not counting tonight's game. So potentially we're looking at a 95-67 if things remain the exactly the same. Do we think Oakland can win more than 95 games? They'd have to win 40 of their last 65 games for a .615 winning percentage. There are only 4 teams in the league currently over .600. |

The major concern should be next year. This year it's a "yeah, we should probably do something". For next year it's "holy ball sack we have got to do something now!" I think our greatest problem in a playoff series this year might be Mr. OMG THE BALLS ARE JUICED, HR HR HR. Can he cut that shit out for a series to help us win? |

The news reports about who Luhnow tried to get are almost as interesting. It was revealed a few months ago a deal was in place last Summer to rent Bryce Harper and the Nats decided to nix it In hindsight, the Nats helped us out. |

As I stated, we are either going to get a fill in starter for cheap (giving up piddly prospects) or land a real good SP that we can control over the next few years. No way this organization overpays for a rental as the long run is what they are thinking of.
I've heard stories of people wanting to trade away Tucker and/or Whitley for a big name pitcher (regardless of it being a rental this year or not). I feel we already have a rental in Cole right now.

Got the windows tinted, so that helped with the 7th circle of hell weather I live in. The only issue I've had is the SiriusXm tuner in my CUE screen...waiting for the dealership to have an available Caddy loaner so they can take my car and fix it. (it's likely a software issue) |
