We have three more days until we will need a starter to fill again. Will the Astros management go out and make a splash, pick up a starter somewhere to plug or hope that time will heal all wounds and do nothing.

Hopefully we can bring up Sneed again by then. Which I can't believe I'm saying...

No. By that time, the 10 days will have elapsed with Cy Sneed in RR, and he will be brought back up.

Luhnow sitting on his ass over the winter produced this mess. I want to puke when I tbink of him letting Morton go. That 11-2 record with a 2.35 ERA he has would have helped us a lot But, Luhnow let him go

The Astros did enough in the offseason to try and break even from what they were losing, but I agree that losing Morton seems like a weird scenario now. He was scared off by giving him a 3 year contract so we may not find out how good or bad that decision actually was until a year or two from now.
Also in hindsight, maybe we should have given him the qualifying offer instead of Keuchel.

I think McHugh's starting days should be over. The guy is great for a few innings but through 5 is another story. The bullpen for both McHugh and Peacock are perfect, especially in the playoffs.

I'm not sure how else to solve the rotation pinch if a trade can't be made

Why would the Rockies want to do this? You mean not every team wants our mediocrity for their excellence? Why don't we just strong-arm the Mets into giving us deGrom and Syndergaard. That always works. Tyler White, Framber and a reason to live should do the trick

It's funny that Giles is having such a good year and is considering a big bullpen trade candidate at the deadline.

I disagree that Brantley came in for Morton. We needed a solid starting pitcher to come in for him and we didn't get it.

I disagree that Brantley came in for Morton. We needed a solid starting pitcher to come in for him and we didn't get it. What was meant was star power Brantley for Morton. We didn't lose a big bat in the lineup and gained one in Brantley.

Brantley replaced Marwin, and it was a fantastic move.

He made a great deal and got Verlander.........we would not have won the WS without him. We won't win one this year unless a couple of needed moves are made.

It's funny that Giles is having such a good year and is considering a big bullpen trade candidate at the deadline. I hope the young man has matured. I'm a big believer in forgiveness, but totally intolerant of continued stupidity.

I was relieved when they got rid of him.

I think the pressure of pennant race will cause similar results as the lack of water to my peach trees. they wilted badly.

That heat we feel is Oakland making another run. 20 more games like the last 20 and we will be looking up at the A's. The good news is we are about to trade 650 ops at bats from White for what should be 900 ops at bats from Correa. He had a good night last night. If Armenteros has a good start on Sunday some of the heat will come off, and if Peacock comes back some more will come off. The bottom line though is even with those events actually happening we need another big arm. It really is getting close to "Luhnow do something" time.

Put him in a playoff race where it matters...... Kaboom!!!!! It's just a matter of time. Till then? All the best for him.

Exactly what I said earlier in the season when we were giving away games to teams we should have massacred and this forum was saying things like "Meh, it's early. Nothing to worry about. Ignore that 6 game losing streak."
