One of the absolute worst contracts in sports. He's signed through 2022 ($17 mil/ season) and I bet he doesn't find another contract after that (not even league minimum).
He does have $42 million deferred paying out from 2023 to 2037 so there's that for him

His contract set the Orioles back for years. I'm guessing the manager said something to the effect of "If we didn't have to put your sorry ass in the lineup everyday we'd have a shot at winning"
or maybe even "Have you tried bunting?"
or my favorite "Popcorn vendor called in sick, need you to cover"
