Kudos to Cole Train...he's had a Cy Young year, but unfortunately won't win the Cy Young due to an unnamed coworker. This dude has been absolute nails this year, culminating in a 300 K year...and nearly achieved those 300 K's in record time (Only Big Unit did it quicker).

The CY would be his if he hadn't a somewhat slow start. Absolutely dominating the 2nd half of the season.

If I am counting correctly and Cole stays on his every 5 days schedule, he should start on the 24th and the final game of the regular season, the 29th. I’m thinking AJ will want to line up JV, Cole and Greinke to start games 1, 2 and 3 of the ALDS. The ALDS starts on October 4th. If Cole starts game 2 on the 5th he will be working on an extra day of rest, so I think AJ will give Cole a chance to get his 20th win on the final day of regular season, provided he gets a W in his next start. It would be nice to have two 20 game winners. I don’t know if the Astros have ever had two 20 game winners in the same season. Have they?

I'm going to the game Sept 28th in Anaheim and that's the one game where it's open for another starter. No Verlander (although saw him in the World Series), no Cole and no Greinke. Not even Miley. Probably will be stuck with Framber

Not sure Luhnow is going to fork over a $400M over a 10 year deal. I expect a bidding war not seen in a number of years. Terms mentioned earlier. is about where I expect them to land.

Matter of fact, I wouldn't mind paying Cole exactly what both Hampton and Lima made that year combined

Who said anything about $20 million. Lima and Hampton made a combined roughly $11 million in 2000 after their 20 win season in 1999. Convince Cole of that (he's getting double what they made)

Cole isn't going to take less than $32 million a year for a minimum of 5 years. That's probably where the price just starts. He's hitting free agency at peak performance, and at a great age.

We will be paying Verlander $33 million a year........Offering Cole the same money on a 5-year deal should do it. Adding some incentives also might be a good thing.

I don't think that will really be enough. He's just as good as Verlander and way younger. He might take the same for a year or two, but he'll want more than that on the back end. I honestly believe he gets offered a 6-year $35 mil a year deal.

Probably will be stuck with Framber Jayfree, I just looked on mlb.com at the schedule for the remaining games and the probable starters of those games. Mlb.com has Urquidy listed as our probable starter for the game on Friday the 27th with the starters for the 28th and 29th TBD. If Verlander stays on his every-fifth-day routine he would start on the 27th and then go 7 days before starting game #1 of the ALDS on October 4th. Cole is due to start on the 24th and, if he stays on his every-fifth-day routine, would start on the 29th and then go 6 days before starting game #2 of the ALDS on October 5th. It could be that Luhnow/Hinch have decided that they would rather not have JV going 7 days between his final regular season start and game #1 of the ALDS and have decided they would rather start him on the 28th... the 6th day since his last start... and again 6 days later on October 4th in game #1 of the ALDS. In that case the open game for another starter would be on Friday the 27th, rather than Saturday the 28th, which would explain Urquidy being listed as the probable starter on the 27th by mlb.com. Maybe you will get lucky and JV will start the game you are attending on the 28th.
