I think Cole will be dominant. With the Nats lineup, if you can avoid Soto and Rendon, you've got a pretty good chance of shutting them down. Their offense played above their talent in the NLCS. I'm just worried if we'll manage much against their rotation with the way we've been hitting recently. They have to be patient and get to the bullpen. I still have these visions of a .179 tatooed wet smelly fish slapping us in the face. And now we are facing a tougher starting pitching line up. I am going on a limb, and say the absolute key stat is going to be whether we can muster .250 this series. If it is anything less than that, the smoke and mirrors miracle of the ALCS won't happen. If .179 beats the Yankees....... |

I am most concerned about facing Strausburg. For the most part our regulars can handle pitchers who depend heavily on an overpowering fastball, but don’t have the lethal breaking stuff. Strausburg has both the heat and the wicked curve.

If you want to look at it from a positive standpoint: 1. Strasburg has never thrown this many innings in a season. Fatigue will be a concern for him. 2. Corbin has been awful in the postseason so far against lesser teams. 3. Scherzer had health issues and didn't look good against Milwaukee. I like your thinking there. Still, can you remember the last time the Astros were held to 8 hits or less for 9 consecutive games (final 3 of ALDS, and all ALCS)? This makes me nervous as hell, as that is in the neighborhood of a doomsday slump. |

Devo's biggest issue is facing multiple batters. I presume the thinking is our starters will typically go 6+ so he will only be used for one batter at a time. Potentially batters who struggle against changeups.

Strausburg has both the heat and the wicked curve. If I recall right, Strasburg has an Achilles Heel with lefties with a BAA more than .100 points higher than right handed players. I look for a lefty dominated lineup tonight.
ps Apparently that was another pitcher. Strasburg has been more effective vs lefties than righties. So forget the lefty dominated lineup until the pitcher I was thinking about shows up.
