The pitching lineup we've been waiting for:
Scherzer vs Cole
Probable Lineup:
Springer cf
Altuve 2b
Brantley lf
Bregman 3b Yuli 1b Correa ss Alvarez dh Maldonado c Reddick rf
Alvarez will get another shot to start the series (especially since he won't be in the lineup in DC). If he does well I see him staying for game #2 otherwise another O'fer may bring in Diaz.

Ha, someone changed the NYY Wikipedia page to show Altuve as the team owner. Unfortunately, it's already been fixed.

Cool quote by Wade Miley: I trust there are no plans to re-sign him. Based upon his season here, he'd be a great pickup for a team not expecting to make the playoffs

Cool quote by Wade Miley: I trust there are no plans to re-sign him. Miley has a history of suddenly loosing it and suddenly finding it again. If he is not too expensive I would sign him and try to work through the issues he had at the end. It is hard to forget 5 months of good cheap work.

The Astros are 27-36 all-time against the Nationals (since 2005) and last played them in the regular season in 2017, losing two of three games. Houston last played in Washington in ‘14, getting swept in two games. The Astros have lost 14 of their last 16 games against the Nats since Sept. 11, 2011.

There aren’t many teams who can match our starting pitching. The Nats can. It could come down to the bullpens. I think the Astros have the advantage there.

We have the advantage of being here before and winning it.....Nats have no experience at this level. Our lineup should be better from top to bottom if they produce as capable, and our bullpen is deeper. It may go six, but, the Astros win it.

They have 3 bad ass starters just like we do. If theirs just slightly out pitches ours, add a few bloops and breaks......... This thing could swing their way. Shouldn't, but everyone knows how unpredictable baseball is. Bottom line is, our team better damn not be complacent, and take this team for granted.

Just heard that Brian McCann is throwing out the first pitch before Game one and Evan Gattis will catch it.........classy move by the Astros to recognize two important members of the championship team in 2017.

Man, I still say they should consider Gattis as a cheap backup catcher next year. Unless he's just flat out done.
Btw, he hit .300 with an .833 OPS in the 2017 WS. Does anybody think Yordan can match or surpass that?

Does anybody think Yordan can match or surpass that? I wanted them to keep Gattis as backup catcher this season. Yordan has to do better than he did in the ALCS. I still don't know why Hinch didn't give Tucker a shot.

As bad as he was in the ALCS, he was solid in the ALDS. I have to believe that a couple days off and a fresh start will help him some. Plus the Nationals don't have the high quality relievers to mix and match against him later in the games. Provided we can make their fantastic starters work hard and get into their bullpen early...

One interesting point everyone seems to always forget is that Grienke is among the best hitting pitchers in baseball. His lifetime ba is .225.
Don't be surprised to see that being a factor in G3 in DC. He won't be an automatic out.

It wasn't just his swing and misses, but when he got the fastball down the middle he mishit almost every one for a foul ball. He just couldn't square up the ball and I think it has to do with his long swing.
Two things may have happened: Either the Rays found something out and the Yankees took advantage or he got into a slump and has been trying to fix it which has led to a longer slump
