I don't think so. Castros was signed way earlier than Odorizzi. But they were reportedly talking to Odorizzi for weeks before signing him. No way in hell they hire a millions of dollars catcher just in case they happen to sign a pitcher who might like the way he catches. We're not talking about Degrom here...this is Odorizzi. No one GAS what Odorizzi prefers.

The situation with Baez is the main reason I give Click a low grade for what he did in the off season. I think most anyone could have re-signed Brantley and Leon.

I think most anyone could have re-signed Brantley and Leon. You and I wanted Rosenthal, he is done for the season. I wanted Yates, and he is done for too...Colome sucked so bad, he was demoted...Hendriks signed for a lucrative deal that no way the Astros could have paid.....I just looked at Brad Hand, the player I hope the Astros somehow will pull of a trade for, he is doing okay, but not great....And then you have Mark Melancon that has found the fountain of youth, and killing it right now, but no mentioned his name here as a target... So out of the above, who are you mad at Click not for signing?

I used to compare him to Luke Gregerson. LOL Maybe we are better off working with our young relievers. They have the stuff....just have to be able to command it.

None of us can fault the Báez signing because you can’t predict injuries.

Leon with 2 singles and 2stolen bases, plus a walk How good is he at throwing strikes? It wouldn't matter. Dusty would put him in to hold a one run lead in the 10th.

Good grief! I just read the recap of Fayetteville’s 5/21 game. Fayetteville pitchers walked 20 batters in a 9 inning game and the Peckers still managed to win 11-10. Maybe we need to send Abreu to Fayetteville. Sounds like he would fit right in there.

Jojanse Torres, Seth Martinez and Colin McKee combined to pitch a 1 hit shoutout against Albuquerque yesterday. McKee pitched the final three innings, giving up no hits, striking out 5 and not walking a batter. With the way the Astros bullpen has performed, any pitcher we have at AAA who can throw 3 consecutive innings of no hit, no run ball, without walking a batter should be in Houston.
On Saturday night Peter Solomon started for Sugarland and pitched 6 innings of 2-hit, shutout ball. He walked 1 and struck out 9. He is already on the 40-man roster. If he pitches that well again in his next outing, he should be promoted to Houston.
