This is year two without a first and second round pick, right? Yes, the final part of the penalties levied against the Astros.

From the report on game 2 of Sugarland’s double header with Round Rock:
“The Skeeters had taken a 4-3 lead in the seventh on a grand slam from Jose Siri — his second grand slam of the season. Siri has driven in 24 runs through 10 games this season, which leads all Minor League Baseball.”
Maybe this guy deserves a shot with the big club?

As much as I want Straw to get a good shot, we're not seeing much in the way of improvement to hope for better. I'd be good with swapping him and Garcia.

We can’t go back to that Ausmus-Everett bottom of the order type of offense.

I just looked at Siri’s fielding stats. He has played just shy of 4,000 innings in CF in his minor league career. He should be familiar with the position.

What would you think about swapping Garcia for CJ Hinojosa? Siri is an outfielder. Hinojosa plays 2B, 3B and SS. Hinojosa is off to a hot start at Sugarland too and his career numbers are better than those of Siri.

Well I figured Straw could fill in at 2B or SS on a short term if needed which would eliminate the need for Garcia at all. But yeah, I'd be good with that.

From what I see, improving over what we are getting from Garcia shouldn't be too difficult. He had one game winning hit as a pinch hitter. Other than that, he is useless.

What do we know about Tyler Ivey? He is coming up to start against the Rangers on Friday. There is a good analysis of him at the Astros Top 30 prospects link. I remember he was really doing well a couple years ago before being suspended. www.mlb.com/prospects/astros/tyler-ivey-663959

The head coach at A&M is also their pitching coach.

Hinjosa, Ivey, Mattes, Emanuel... Astros sure like them bad boys.... Well at least Ivey’s suspension was not for a failed drug test. Ump found a substance on his glove that he was apparently using to doctor the ball.

I’m liking what I’m seeing of Korey Lee so far. He is hitting and he has thrown out 4 of 6 runners attempting to steal this year and 14 of 36 in his minor league career. He played 3B in yesterday’s game and has played some 1B and LF in past years. I’m curious to see how he does when he is promoted to AA. www.mlb.com/prospects/astros/korey-lee-686676

Thanks for reporting this, and it's very encouraging to have any good news from our farm system I hope they don't crap on him as they have done to Stubbs. For the life of me I don’t understand why we signed Castro. Stubbs is a good defensive catcher who can hit a little, sit on the bench without falling over and pass out gatorade to his teammates. I just checked Stubbs’ stats at Sugarland this season. I am not aware of Stubbs being unable to play due to injury or illness this year. He has only played in 5 of their 13 games. He is batting .368 with a .981 OPS and has thrown out 2 of 5 runners attempting to steal. If the FO thinks he is not capable of at least being a backup catcher in MLB by now, the Astros should just release him or trade him.

Was it just because he and Odorizzi had some rapport in Minnesota?
