And so far, McCullers has proven to be a great contract extension....FTR - I did not like the extension when it happened....slowly becoming a believer in LM.....But still think the Astros need to go after a top arm in the OS, to stay a top playoff contender

McCullers is PoG, period/end of story. In second place is Álvarez.

We talk a lot about how good Altuve and Correa have been in the postseason, but Lance has also been excellent. Before today:
3.28 ERA in 46 IP with 10+ K/9

I wasn't available to follow the game as it happened but the box score looks pretty damned good. I nominate McTwitchy! Hands down it was Lance!

We should see what we can do with Verlander, but, I don't want to spend money to keep Greinke.

Until this season, I thought he could be our closer. Now, I'm glad they didn't put him in the pen.

coach is the one who wanted McCullers to be the closer, not union. I admit I called LMJ a reliever cause the pussy never gave us 150 IP until now, but I wasn't in favor of moving him to the pen. He wasn't good enough to make the transition and still isn't
I will say in Lance's defense it's rare for an Astros pitcher I can recall having a career year a few months after he got paid. Roger Clemens is the only one I remember giving us that gift. Nolan Ryan's career year wasn't until 1981

I thought Lance was a great candidate to be a dominant multi-inning reliever. Hopefully this season means he is more than that.

Nolan Ryan's career year wasn't until 1981 Yes, I wanted him to be the closer because at the time I didn't think Pressly could handle it and Lance had the pitches to do the job. As it turns out, we are better with Lance at the top of the rotation and Pressly closing. I seem to remember a bunch of folks here bitching when they gave Lance the new 5yr/$85 million contract. I was not one of them. I agreed with giving it to him, and, it is turning out to be a bargain. We are paying Greinke twice that and look what we are getting for the money.

I have to give the slight edge to Yuli for his game tying hit today. That gave us plenty of momentum. Great job to Jose and Dusty too!

Heck, the entire batting order except Maldonado got at least one hit and we really don't expect much from him other than good work behind the plate. What a great day, eh?

We handled Giolito and got him out of the game and then went to work on their pen.

Union, but I took up the cause, and became a big advocate. I wanted Morton in the pen, not Lance. Maybe, I was the first on LMC, but I didn't think so. I definitely was not excited about the Astros signing him to a 5-year extension.... But so far it looks like a genius plan/great contract... Armchair GMs, like myself, really don't know shit, and are full oof it We're not there at practices. We don't know their personalities...We go by what see on TV....

While I was annoyed about the home run, I was more annoyed at the half-assed throws that had runners on base when he gave up the home runs.

October 20: I nominate Framber Valdez. (Tough call, that. Yordan was money at the plate.)
