McCullers confirmed for Game 4. Awesome!!! Before the season started, I never thought I'd be saying those words I'm not sure I like this move. I'd prefer to start Urquidy in game 4 and then have McCullers for game 5 in Houston if needed. Lance is better at home than on the road. I hope I'm wrong, but, I think Dusty has struck again with this move. If we took game 4 without Lance and we win, he starts game one of the ALCS on Friday. I think we are taking an unnecessary risk by using Lance in game 4.

Starting McCullers in game 4 means he is gone for game one of the ALCS no matter if this series goes 4 or 5. I'd rather see Urquidy tomorrow backed by Framber and Greinke and keep McCullers for game 5, if needed, or game one of the ALCS on Friday. This move Dusty is doing can screw us twice..

The McCullers for game 4 move was set up by Dusty pissing away game 3 by (1) Starting Cha Cha instead of Urquidy in game 3, (2) Bringing in Yimi instead of Greinke to relieve Cha Cha, (3) Letting Yimi come back out to start the 4th, etc, etc, ....

I don't think Dusty would've started McCullers on 3 days rest. It would've been Urquidy had they played today

I think the rainout helped Dusty in spite of him being a blockhead. He gets to go with his best starter on routine rest, his bullpen gets a day off and the opponent's momentum is halted

I don't think Dusty would've started McCullers on 3 days rest. It would've been Urquidy had they played today Had Dusty started Urquidy Sunday or not tried to Yimi his way out of a jam in game 3, I doubt we would be talking about who would start a game 4, regardless of whether it would be played today or tomorrow. Man I have such conflicting feelings about how I want things to go this postseason. I love the Astros. Have followed them since they were the .45s. For that reason I want the Astros to win it all this season. If they do; however, we are no doubt stuck with Dusty for another year. If they don’t win it all, I think Dusty is gone.... and I definitely want him gone.

We lost 1 game out of 3. Our Ace (might not be much of an Ace) is pitching game 4. Not that big of a deal to me. Maybe the board will be better off without me. I feel Dusty is too easy of a target to most for whatever reason. I hope he retires with a World Serious Championship.

I think everyone on the board would like to see him get his World Series Championship this season AND THEN RETIRE. Problem is he has already made it clear he wants to come back next season. He does not intend to retire after this season. Do you want Dusty back as Astros manager next season?

Damn, people. The Dusty hate is about more than I can handle. You don't play your trump card until you need it. Using McCullers tomorrow is a waste...........olpapa is right that we should have used Urquidy in game 3. Now, using him in Chicago in game 4 is DUMB. No way the White Sox beats him in Houston in a game 5 if it got that far. Now, if we lose game 4 we have wasted Lance until at least game 2 of the ALCS if we get there. Dusty just keeps shooting himself in the foot. I don't understand how you can keep defending all of these dumb moves he makes. He gave away game 3 and now he is working on pissing away the season. The only good thing that would come from him blowing this series is that it would guarantee that we are rid of the old dumbass.

The problem is having to overcome the stupid moves Dusty makes to do it. You don't blow your ace your in a NON-ELIMINATION game. You keep him in case you don't win game 4. Then, you have him AT HOME for game 5 if it gets that far. You need to get a grip and stop complaining because most of the rest of us see Dusty for the incompetent clown he is and says it. You are too smart to keep defending the idiot.

The Red Sox just walked off the Rays 6-5 to win their series. Kevin Cash made a move that even Dusty wouldn't have done, and, allowed Kike Hernandez to bat in the bottom of the 9th with one out and first base open. This guy has been the hottest hitter on the planet this entire series. Why would he pitch to him with first base open? The result was a long sac fly to center that drove in the winning run. The Rays are out. If we win our series, we have the home field advantage for the ALCS. Let's hope Dusty doesn't blow it. Using McCullers in game 4 can come back to bite us.

Count me as one of those against using McCullers tomorrow. Historically he's been better at home, and Rodon has OWNED us big time. Like as much as any pitcher on the planet. Maybe Lance goes 6-7 innings and gives up just a run or two, but if Rodon shuts us out, it won't matter, and you've wasted the start of your best guy.
I dunno, it's a risk IMO.

Your optimism, is infectous and an endearing part of this board. OTOH, some of us have been dealing with this guy for 30+ years as an opponent. His joining the team reminded me when we hired Leo Durocher in 1972. I couldn't stand the guy either, and remember my father constantly ribbing me that the Astros hired him. The guy was toxic. And so is Baker for different reasons. Please understand that Baker has. a history of destroying young pitching arms, and flubbing moves in playoff games. Don't forget his lack of leadership cost the flubs a WS trip in 2003, with the Bartman incident. Rather than showing some leadership and calming the team down, he inflammed the situation by blaming a fan at a presser for their woes, instead of not owning up to the loss. There are several other examples too, but sometimes I get a little wordy in my POV, so I'll spare you. You have a lot of knowldege and wisdom of this game, but also please realize the window of opportunity is probably closing pretty quickly for us. And it is a crying shame we could have invested in a better quality field general. Any dufous can manage a .400 team. We need an elite manager since chances for a title don't come that often.

I’m more than comfortable having Lance start Game 2 and Framber in Game 1 of the ALCS (if things work out).
