I have looked everywhere, except the one place where every single writer/reporter posts every nugget of gossip, and can not find anything on Baltimore offering a contract to Correa. Something is wrong though or this thing would of already been done. FTFY F@#k Twitter.

Because they're more of a legit team. I wished he would have signed with the Astros, but his signing with the Rockies, doesn't hurt the Astros

I have looked everywhere, except twitter, and can not find anything on Baltimore offering a contract to Correa. Something is wrong though or this thing would of already been done. I read this also. Baltimore offered before the lockout 10 years at 300 million and the offer is still on the table. Not sure why he hasn’t accepted because it will be the best offer he likely gets. Here is the link to that quote from Twitter: This source in the tweet appears to be contradicting himself (wouldn't be surprised if it's Nate G)

Whether the Orioles did make this offer, it'd be a news report outside a couple tweety birds in Maryland if one of their team's beat sources had confirmed it

I’m happy for Freeman, but man did the Braves upgrade or what? Olson struggles to hit .250. Freeman is basically Lance Berkman. I'm not sure I follow.

To me that’s above average defense and about 40 bombs a year to a plus defender who’s 5 years younger with a price tag of $6 million AAV less. He’s an icon and a great player still, but the Braves made a decent move there pending the success of the prospects sent to Oakland.

On the other hand guys like Freeman seem to age more gracefully than guys like Olson. I'll often take the supremely talented hitter even if he costs more or is older.

If I were a Braves fan, I’d still miss Freeman, but I would be far from disappointed in Matt Olson.

I didn't much care for that (or the seven-inning doubleheaders) but in my opinion, the possibility of adding rules regarding placement of defenders (basically banning the shift) is even more of a travesty.

What was the point of the lockout if they were going to renege on things?

Verlander looked good today. I saw that the game was on Amazon Prime today. Is that just a ST thing, or will they be carrying games all season?

$105 million over 3 years, so $35 million a year. That's a BAD look that Crane wasn't willing to match that (no way he leaves Houston for Minnesota on an equal deal).

This is a really stunning blunder. They had plenty of CBT space to spend $35 million on Carlos, and if he was really willing to come back for just 3 years at that price? There's simply no justification for not matching that deal. It's not like there's a big time SP or CF on the market they could be targeting instead. What the heck is the plan here?

Like I told Bortaz, at least we know how Crane is now. If a player runs out of team control, he’s gone.

We now have an aging, soon-to-be LF, no answer in CF, Maldonado’s weak offense in the lineup, a rookie SS, and an aging 1B. To a much lesser degree, the team went in the direction of the A’s.

When you consider the state tax issue as well, Astros didn't even need to match the $35 per year. I mean $33 probably would have been about the same at the end of the day. How do you not pull the trigger at $99 million over three years?
There's got to be more here. A big trade that brings in a great but expensive player that plays a position they don't have a good prospect ready to step in for like they do with Pena for Correa. Otherwise the Astros, in a city of six million, just went full A's/Pirates despite being at the height of their success and profitability and immediately after the new CBA gave them even more room to spend.

I imagine this will rub the entire team the wrong way. Could this be the end of the Astros run? Might we see a fire sale come July?
