There is a difference between was and is, imo. There was a lot of sucking between then and now, let’s be real. Let's be real. Never being worse than 13% above league average isn't "sucking."

Very well, let’s say he didn’t perform to 2018-19 standards in 2020-21. His power was largely gone, he had injuries, and it was so bad that Dusty batted him near the bottom of the order in the World Series. He underperformed.

Remind me what is the Major League Taxi Squad? The best I can tell the taxi squad in MLB was created in 2020 as a result of the covid pandemic. Each team was permitted to carry 3 non-roster players (the taxi squad) on road trips. The purpose of the taxi squad was to provide readily available replacement players should some player(s) on the roster come down with covid. This was done so that when a team had a player contract covid they didn’t have to require a minor leaguer to drop everything at a moment’s notice and get on a commercial flight and travel across country to catch up with the team. The team simply activated a player from the taxi squad which was already with the team. Thanks olpapa. I thought the taxi squad was where Jim, Latka and Alex hung out

I think there are still a lot of guys like Altuve. Look at most of our team, for example. Siri and Correa (and sometimes Bregman) we're the outliers. People like to get on Siri and Correa, but Bregman was the biggest showboat. It all seems to get lost in the shuffle. The difference is that Bregman mostly kept it in the dugout, outside of his "should have walked me" pose.

More like having fun, getting the team pumped.... As opposed to, I'm bigger than the team. I'm a free agent this next year. I'm going to the highest bidder...

It's his overall general attitude about his free agency and how he has handled it that's annoying. He doesn't have to say a damn word. Everybody knows he was/is a free agent. Let your talent and production speak for itself. All he has to say is: "We haven't talked yet. I'd be interested in coming back, but I'm also exploring whatever options arise. Thanks, next question."

Dude is just playing the game.

Even egos like Tatis worked it out quietly. If this was football, he would fit in perfectly.

Well, all bets were off when he wrecked Cody Bellinger on the mic. I'll always appreciate that he tried to go on the offensive with some of that crap and support Altuve, but he still needs to STFU about the free agency thing. His mouth is a liability in his free agency quest.

Morton with a $20 mil one year extension plus $20 mil team option. He's not exactly had a good year and he's still getting that offer from the Braves.
Starting at $40 per year for JV.

It's partially because "there's no such thing as a bad one-year deal," as they say. Plus he's had a little bit of bad luck (3.62 xFIP). From June 5 through September 2 he posted a 3.26 ERA. But yeah. JV is going to be incredibly expensive...

Correa is obviously a very good player but he’s not a 35 million dollar player. And his “potential” remains unrealized. I always expected him to go off some season and hit 35-40 bombs but he never did. I think his estimation of his skills falls below their actuality.

He’s been relatively good recently with staying on the field, but for the money he demands, not being able to hit 30 bombs when smaller guys like Altuve and Lindor can is certainly a weakness in his game.

Twins are 10 games behind Cleveland in their division. Looks like Correa will not be in the playoffs this year. What are the odds he regrets turning down the $180 mil from the Astros? Doesn't he have an opt out every year for the next 3 years?

Just think the Yankees have to win out now to reach 100 wins. Good thing they had that wink at beginning of the year to help them out.

Kudos to Luis Garcia on finishing strong for his sophomore season. It wasn't quite as impressive as his rookie season, but still a good year:
15-8 157 IP 3.72 ERA (104 ERA+) 1.131 WHIP
His WHIP was actually better than his rookie season even though his ERA was a bit higher. Not bad for a guy that skipped AA and AAA!
I really think they need to work on getting him, Framber and Javier extended. Honestly they should probably be just as high a priority as Tucker.
