Just an observation on my behalf on new "Woke" culture. Trying to get your thread closed, I see. I prefaced the post to make sure no racist repsonses were made. I have to hand out props ot the entire Astros organization for pulling out an American League Pennant despite historic harassment from fans, sports writers, and players of other teams. I have been one of Baker's harshest critics for 25 years, and though not a full convert, am saying that he out managed the darlings of the media La Russa and Cora. After our staff had given up 3 slams in basically 11 innings, all the punditry had given the team early rites and deep sixed any chance.
Let me say (1) it gives me pleasure to smear these comments and cat calls in these mf'ers face. (2) After reading Chris Bassitt's calims of how actual ubiquitous cheating was in MLB, I want to grind fans of other teams noses in the fact of how f***ing hypocritical their chants were. I want to destroy them.
I was worried that we are a team in decline, and that still may be the case, but when I see quiet determined non-showboating guys like Alvarez and Tucker mashing the ball? Add some fantastic pitchng from young arms who are doing it under extreme pressure. The future looks a lot brighter than we think.

We definitely need to add a top quality, veteran starting pitcher. I hope we can sign Verlander to a reasonable contract. |

This off-season will determine whether the Astros will be contenders for the next 5 years or not. Click will have the money to play with AND the draft choices are restored. If he hits on his FA signings and trades, look out. If he doesn't, the Astros will still be very good but probably well short of being dominant. |

If he hits on his FA signings and trades, look out. If he doesn't, the Astros will still be very good but probably well short of being dominant. I really thought when the Stros fell short by one game from the Series last season, it might be the last time they would have a legit chance. The lost of the big free agents over the last two season didn't hamper them this season. But it will be the off season like you mentioned that will be critical what direction the franchise will move forward or backward. |

Been awhile, but here's a rant......
Wife and I had a hell of day yesterday, dealing with a despicable phone carrier which obviously I can't mention but will say it starts with "A" and ends with "T".
First a little background. I think all of you remember me as a frugal individual, and one of many parts of that frugality includes getting cell phones and service for the utmost cut-rate cost. We have a plan that we pay a $100 a year for service on each phone, and then as we use it during the year, getting charged $.10 a minute when used. We don't use it for texting or computer, so it in essence are emergency or traveiling phones.
Well, we found out that our antiquated 3G flip phones were becoming obsolete because of some conversion to another freaking "G". Our phones are not used that much, and it literally irked me that I have to pitch a perfectly good working phone for bullshit like this. So for about 1.5 hour, I maneuvered and was bounced around 8 times on their 611 service number. They finally relented and told us that we would get our two new phones at the A_&T store, and even made us an appointment.
When we arrived at the store, the service technician started to smirk, and almost laughed and said "our customer service lines do this to people all the time"... We are not authorized to give you new phones for that reason on Pay as you Go Plans
So we call the service number back, and they take no ownership or acknowledgement that they even ever told us they were free. Again, taking about 75 additional minutes to get this level of knowledge. No doubt, and I wonder how much of these upgrades have scam tactics behind them.
I know its only a $100 to fix this, but the absolute principles of it and bull shit that this company's mostly foreign customer support is duping people is beyond disgusting. This is a freaking company with a market cap of $180B. How can this company survive with this level of customer service? I have stock that has been in the family 90 years from this company too. I bet my grandfather is spinning in his grave at what a travesty of what he help build has become.

I know I mentioned it on another thread but has anyone noticed the hypocricy of Fox where the tandem of Smoltz and Buck have mentioned the sign stealing scandal 8 times, while there has been nary of mention of the lifetime ban of former Brave GM Coppolella.?
My wish? Don't renew Fox's MLB contract for broadcasting. Their Homerism is sickening.

Yeah, it was a bad night, but there was some good poltical news...
It looks like VA will be flipping red, with all major offices becoming GOP. VA house flipped red too.
This is huge since all the democrat brass has stated that election was a referendum on the Biden agenda.
Furthermore, NJ has the GOP ahead in their gubernatorial race. But not enough to outside margin of democratic theft that NJ is famous for.

Was really tough seeing Strom talking through the tears tonight. I commend his hard work, dedication, success and I hope his retirement is at least half as good as mine.
But mostly, I am glad he cleared the air, and defended Luhnow last week, and acknowldeged him tonight. Like I said earlier, I spent 2 hours googling the scandal last week, and I found zero proof that Luhnow was implicated in any form or fashion in the scandal. Was Luhnow amiss for not digging and having more awareness of his teams misdeeds? That POV could argued for the next 10 years.
But mostly, and whole heartedly, I can say passionately say for the second time this week that I hope Jim Crane burns in hell. His scapegoating of Luhnow was a truly despicable act. Click may be a nice guy, but he is a likely a mere piker versus Luhnow in the ability to build a sucessful baseball team.

Stopping by for a brief visit, and keeping a half an eye on baseball. Was very impressed that the team has pulled off .600 baseball, with really little or no statistical blowout performances. Haven't watched or listened to a game yet, so am pretty clueless this season (again) on the dynmamics of how they are really doing. I do take exceptional joy in seeing CC falling flat on his ass so far. Greedy ball players do that to me.
Personally, health has been good and the granchild roster keeps growing. Am especially glad we are finally and hopefully permanently out of the pandemic grips and controls.
Am afraid our next worries are going to be around economics woes. I hope all of you have taken the precautions to prepare for bad times.

Watched my first game of the season last week against the Mariners the other night, and can see why this is a really competitive team. Didn't miss a beat with Correa's departure, and our tandem of stars like Alvarez, and Tucker are going to put up numbers for quite a long time.
2 Big questions I have for the faithful.... Will we see another late season injury or fade from JV. Also where the hell is McCullers?
6 teams per league now in the playoffs? How NBAish of these mf'ers. What's with the empty seats? Wokeness still stinging attendance?
