He started twitching early when the ump was a bit loose with his zone. maldy had to go out and pat him on the head. Pfft. He never got close to losing it. Just give the guy some credit. He and Garcia were the game heros. He managed to contain it this time. That’s growth, I guess. |

The Astros had one of the great broadcasters ever in Gene Elston. He was booted out the door and replaced by Milo. That move and the low balling of Nolan Ryan that prompted him to leave for the Rangers are what I remember most about the McMullen era. some guys think that they only way to make money is to cut the costs down to the bone and milk a situation dry. McMullen was one of those kind of guys. My greatest concern when Crane purchased the team was that he had a bit of the same reputation when he took over the team. He and Luhnow then tore the entire structure of the team to hell and back and we ran 3 years without spending any money for anything. Fortunately those days passed and Crane has become the best owner this team has ever had. |
