I hope so. Dumbest-looking shit I’ve ever seen in baseball. I'm sure it started as some sort of timing mechanism with his mechanics. Having him change his wind up that he has probably used for who knows how long a month and a half before the season start is not ideal... Its ridiculous that it hasn't already been ironed out before he reached the biggest stage in the game

Its ridiculous that it hasn't already been ironed out before he reached the biggest stage in the game On the surface, yes. But tons of players develop strange timing mechanisms, superstitions, stances, etc. that for whatever reason work for them. Who knows what being forced to change those will do or not do to them. On the plus side, Garcia has been better with Men On Base and RISP than when the bases are empty when he has to pitch from the stretch. Maybe they just have him always pitch from the stretch and he actually improves? Who knows. I just think it's dumb that MLB has to make it a rule to begin with. What's next? Hitters can only stand in the batter's box a certain way? What does some random quirkiness hurt here or there?

I don’t think it’s right to change Garcia’s windup just because the tittybaby hitters want more advantages.

So is the pitch clock catcher's glove to catcher's glove? Catcher's glove to beginning of windup? Release to release? Have they said? How closely are they going to watch the clock? Can the manager's appeal or request reviews? It's all dumb.

Montas possibly out. Cortes going into ST with a strained hamstring. Rodon has never made it past 178 innings. Severino hasn't pitched a full season since 2018. Cole can't use sticky stuff.

Sounds like they've had a longer to work on it than I thought though. 4 months should be enough time to work on it, you would think.

I think he and any others should be grandfathered in... I’m with you, brother. Whineass hitters can’t adjust to shifts that have always existed, but García has to change the way he’s pitched because of new rules. Hardly seems right.

Guys, I know Garcia’s windup looked really stupid, but I don’t like the mental aspect of the game being attacked. Bigger bases and limiting pickoffs? Defenses are told where they can stand? Where does it end?

I'm ok with the bigger bases but all the other rule changes suck ass. f***ing Manfred.
You want quicker games? Call more strikes.

I can see these new pitch clock rules bothering Framber, Garcia and LMJ. Javier or Urquidy? Not at all.

I honestly don't mind the pitch clock in theory. The multiple rubber step-offs, batters adjusting their gloves repeatedly during an AB then stepping out because a pitcher is taking too long, etc. It does draw an AB out more than necessary.
But, I don't like the idea of limiting windups and pickoff attempts. Just say 20 seconds between pitches not put in play or baserunners not stealing. Catcher's glove to catcher's glove. Whatever happens in between with the pitcher or hitter, who cares.
The bigger bases is mostly a non-issue to me.
The ghost runner in extra innings was always a matter of time. I don't like it, but I can see the reasoning.
The thing I hate the most is the shift regulating.

The thing I hate the most is the shift regulating. Stupidest rule in the history of baseball. If every infielder is on the right side of second base and you're such a one-trick pony who can't hit the ball to the left, you deserve what you get.

I don’t understand the hitters acting like the shifting is some newfangled voodoo magic. It’s been used throughout history. I don’t recall the shifts really keeping David Ortiz in check against the Astros or most other teams.

No one likes the delays, but giving the pitcher a limit on pickoffs is going to almost eliminate throwing over, thus giving a crazy advantage to fast runners unless it just limits throwing to the base the runner is originally occupying. Still, it’s dumb.

The pitch clock and weakening shifts is no big deal in terms of hitters adjusting, but it affects pitchers who were used to doing whatever they wanted from the windup. The saving Grace about the new rules is that it forces teams to look for more athletic infielders. I don’t mind that. I hope Altuve steps it up on defense, though.
