I continue to be impressed with this Dirden kid. If he does well at AAA, I could see him called up by the end of the season.
Unless something changes drastically in the next couple weeks, I think Lee makes the opening day roster and Y. Diaz starts the season at AAA. The Salazar kid has looked good.
Meyers hasn’t taken the bull by the horns like he wants to take CF away from Chas.

It's possible they put Tucker through the computer and it spit out declining speed and BA once he's on the wrong side of 30 The ways the rules keep changing, he will not have to run when he is 30. Everything will be just simulated to appease GTT, Generation Tik Tok. MLB is going the way of other sports. The strategic and deliberately-paced mental aspects of the sport are giving way to instant gratification. None of this will make people put away their IG or TikTok loaded phones to see what’s going on in the game.

I just got the Galaxy S23 Ultra and it's a BAMF. apple products are great. I got tired of buying new laptops ever year, being paranoid constantly over hacking, etc, etc, etc. iPhones, IWatches, iPads, iMacs are all superior to the competition. Changing over is not simple but once done you wonder why it took you so long to understand that hitting yourself in the head will always hurt.

Every Apple product that I have ever bought still works and I have been buying them since the turn of the century.

I spent some time looking at comparables for Tucker. Two that stood out are Dansby Swanson and Cedric Mullins.
Swanson posted 9.8 WAR over the last two years (Tucker 9.3) and plays a much more premium position than Tucker, but "only" got 7 years, $177 million. However Tucker is 3 years younger.
Mullins is an even better comparison. He has 9.4 WAR over the last two years, is also an outfielder, and is two years older than Tucker.
Based on that, what would you give Tucker? If you think Tucker is a 10-year contract guy, would you give an 8-year contract to Mullins?

He's a complete player and has been extremely durable even going back to the minors. He's the kind of guy you give a long-term deal to and don't worry about it. Either he'll live up to it, or he won't. The difference is that if he doesn't live up to it, it won't be because there were any red flags missed before the deal. You wouldn't blame someone for giving him a long deal at his age. He's not a Machado or Tatis with potential behavioral, maturity, or attitude issues. He isn't a Correa with lingering health issues. He isn't 30 years old like Judge or Bogaerts. Even a 10-year deal with him right now only puts him at 35-36 years of age, and he's a corner OFer so you're not relying on premium defense from him the last years of the contracts when he starts to decline. Framber is in this category too. Proven to be successful, very sturdy, and at a pretty good age for a longer type deal. (maybe only 6-7 years for him since he's a bit older)

Brown has indicated that he would go 7 years to get a deal done with Tucker. He has also indicated that he is averse to signing a deal that would extend beyond a players age 33 season. I haven’t done the research, but someone on the board indicated that a 8-year deal signed now would lock Tucker up through his age 33 season.
Seven years… eight years… if Brown is comfortable signing a player through his age 33 season, and going 8 years will get the deal done, give Tucker 8 years. I wouldn’t do it for every player, but I would for Tucker. The guy isn’t injury prone. He is an excellent all-around player who gives 100%. He is a solid citizen. Lock him up.

I’m not even sure he was totally honest about the difference in philosophy between himself and Anthopoulos over in Atlanta.

Not just how good they are or how well they project to age etc.? Mullins is a mediocre centerfielder according to some metrics (others, like Fangraphs' Defensive rating, has him as an above-average defender the last three years). Put him at a corner like Tucker and you might see those numbers change. I should probably note that I'm not in love with Mullins or thinking I'd rather have him etc. Just pointing out that he and Tucker are both outfielders who provide very similar value.

I'd be a little concerned, but also pretty happy. I agree that he's the type of guy you would be on with that length of deal, if anyone. Just pointing out that there's a strong argument to be made for not doing it with him, whether as a general policy or even just because of him specifically (only two good, but not superstar, years, etc.) Framber on the other hand, as a pitcher worries me more with long-term health, plus he's 29 this year so anything more than 5 years would put you past Brown's supposed age 33 cap.

It would be nice if they kept Altuve and Bregman. I just want this promising core of players to stick together for as long as possible.

Framber's the rare circumstance I'd give a six-year extension to a pitcher. Despite his age, he's so driven in pursuit of his accomplishments the way he goes about his business, almost like he's still trying to prove something as a result of going undrafted years ago. Plus he's a LHP

Astros ownership and management and the talent we have there reminds me of the Chicago Bears in the 80s. The McCaskey family held the line on spending so they couldn't keep every free agent, but the drafts and trades Jim Finks engineered when he was GM made them a playoff team for a long time

He does nothing that is exceptional but he does everything in a way that maximizes the high level of talent that he has. He keeps his mouth shut and lets his play do the talking for him. By all accounts he is excellent in the clubhouse and a student of the game. He is a guy I would want on any team.

The only reason Apple is alive today is they stole most of their ideas. Plus the fact Microsoft bailed them out so that Microsoft would not be put under AntiTrust laws like IBM was with OS2/Warp

Hopefully, he isn’t hiding an ankle injury. He’s more worth it than Correa or even Springer, in my opinion.

In big extension news, 8 year extension for Keibert Ruiz. Just $50 million, could be a huge steal since they'll get three free agent years and he has the upside of an elite catcher who can hit. Two club options after those years to boot.
