I'd be ok with maldy if he only cought Verlander and Framber. But when they get pulled so does Maldy. I could live with that kinda baseball. But watching Maldy all 9 innings? Ugh

If Maldonado only caught Verlander then it wouldn't be a problem. Much. But even then, Cesar Salazar is actually a well-respected defensive catcher who can potentially hit a little bit. They need to cut themselves off from Maldonado at some point.

I’ve always wondered why we have a platoon of two righties in CF. Yesterday made it clear. The real platoon is Meyers vs. inside pitches and Chas vs. the outside.

Julks optioned back to AAA waiting on who's coming up. Hope is Jon Singleton.
But wouldn't be surprised if it's Salazar

I wonder if this cuts into Abreu's playing time at all. Frankly it should. I've been more patient with Abreu than most, but he's really hit another wall. He had gotten up to a .667 OPS after the 17-4 win over TB, but in the 7 games since then he has hit just .077 with a .249 OPS. We just can't carry that level of production from 1B. He had good numbers in June, okay numbers in July, but August has been worse than anything we've seen from him so far.
Even if Singleton only repeated his 2014 numbers it would be better than what we've been getting from Abreu recently.
I really hope that this is just a bad year and that Abreu bounces back in 2024, but we can't carry him, Maldonado, Pena, and *insert random bench player* in most games. Ideally Diaz would get more playing time at 1B since they're determined to use Maldonado, but apparently Dusty values Kessinger's 1B defense over Diaz' bat....

Dusty waited so long to play Chas every day my guess is he won't bat Chas cleanup, Bregman 6th and Abreu 7th. Which is what I'd do I love Bregman but the fact that the dude has such a hard time even lashing doubles and bats cleanup ahead of Yordan freaking Álvarez is a joke you can’t even write. He'll bounce back next season. He's got another .850-OPS season in him and I think it'll be 2024

Typical Rangers. Down 3-0 and score two to make it close again.

Bregman is on pace for:
26 HR 100 RBI 95 Runs 89/93 BB/K with above-average defense and a good-to-great OBP.
Yes, it would be nice if he was showing more power (or at least more doubles), but he's still an above-average all-around player who is under 30 years old. There's no reason to believe he doesn't have 3-5 more years of similar (or better) seasons in him. Where do we think we could get that kind of production?
He's not on the potential HoF pace that he was before the injuries, but the guy is still a very good player. If he wants to stick around for a Springer-esque contract after next year, I think he's worth it.

He’s lucky to be batting high in the lineup in RBI situations seeing how passive he looks in the box.

RISP: .295/.964 OPS (and that's with only a .286 BABIP) Men On base: .299/.944 OPS Bases Loaded: .700/2.450 OPS He's actually horrible when nobody is on base. Only a .203 AVG and .607 OPS with no runners on base. They should probably leave him where he's at. I'm not disagreeing that the guy can be frustrating. His streakiness and slow starts are annoying for sure. But, his overall production is still very good. He's gotten better each month this year, and I fully expect him to finish pretty strong again. Bregman isn't the problem. The lack of offense from Abreu is the major problem. Pena struggling in his sophomore year isn't surprising, and at least he's cost effective and plays a solid-to-great defense at times. And Maldonado...we're stuck with Maldonado. Abreu/1B is where we need to be getting more offense from and it just hasn't really happened outside of a month in a half in June and July.

I've been wondering if Dusty had input or what his thoughts were on Julks being demoted to AAA? Dusty clearly always has a guy, and I had a feeling it was Julks this year. It was the right move, but I just wonder if this was done with or without Dusty's input...

If he will (why) and if not, why didn't we explore trade offers for him just a few days ago
