Is Braun still playing?

No he retired to relatively low fanfare after 2020 and Milwaukee bought out his final 2021 season.

It feels weird hearing that we're the #2 seed in the league despite all of our issues recently.

Yet, they only boo Altuve. Altuve: didn't use the system, apologized publicly anyway, made no denials or coverups or blame anyone else, hated by everyone Ryan Braun: juiced, lied about it, blamed and innocent family man who makes less in a lifetime than Braun does in a year, no one cares You just have to remember that it's not about facts and logic. Once you do, it makes perfect sense. The Altuve hate is just people who get off by seeing the rich and famous brought low, whether deserved or not. It's people who don't like themselves building themselves up by convincing themselves that a rich and famous person isn't as good as they are. They need that in their lives, and it's popular to do so, it's a meme now, so they do it. Most people are dumb sheep.

I had to go to town today to get fuel. There were a few men sitting around having coffee. They saw my Astros cap and asked me what I thought about Dusty. They said Dusty will retire after this season and Ausmus would be our coach next season.

Although I'd have trouble believing Ausmus would be Brown's #1 for manager, I wouldn't need convincing he'd be Bagwell's #1

Well here we are about a week and a half left in the regular season and we still do not know whether we have a team that will be the number 2 seed or a team that gets left out in the cold with no playoff slot. Kind of interesting really how the season has played out, at the start it looked like we were a shoe in for another 100 win season and a team that would be playing a long way into October. A lot of things have happened on the way to where we are but in my mind this is a team that has lost its way. They do not play fundamentally sound baseball and they seem to play without much passion. Having said that they are my team and I hope that they wake up and find it in themselves to play like they are capable of playing and win it all. But even though they are my team if I am being honest I do not think that they deserve to do so, these boys still need to play their best baseball to even get close.

Could be worse, we could be Mets’ fans

I think it's the success phenomenon. They've been so successful for so long that it becomes old hat to them. The intensity doesn't show up until the heat is on. The 2020 playoffs for example. Yes, they CAN play better than this. But they've looked pretty lifeless at times. Can they turn it on when it matters most? We'll see.

It would damn sure help if the pitching staff stopped giving up 7 runs per game.

Once you've been to the top a couple times, anything less is boring. And for some of them, that high level of winning is all they've known. Bregman and Tucker have never missed the postseason, for example. Same with our young pitchers.

The 2020 season was the ultimate example of the Astros winning when they want to. Of course, no momentum can withstand a Lance McCullers start.

I have them for a month or so. At times they play like a WS team and at others they look worse than the 2013 team. Which should be inexcusable for who they have on the team.

So, should I not be clamoring to sign Hader in the offseason? Nah. Although I do think we need to start seeing Abreu in more closer spots next year. Maybe a co-op between him and Pressly. We'll need a replacement for Stanek though. I think Luis Garcia should come back as a reliever at least for next year. Bullpen:Abreu Pressly Graveman Neris Garcia Montero Maton Urquidy/Brown Rotation:JV Framber France Javier McCullers (until he gets hurt) Urquidy/Brown Bring back Maldonado to be JV's catcher and to continue to mentor Diaz. Let Brantley go and go get Teoscar Hernandez for LF. Hope Abreu and Pena bounce back. Maybe get a cheap 1B/LF/DH option like Garrett Cooper for depth. Lineup:Altuve 2B Bregman 3B Yordan DH Diaz C Tucker RF Chas CF Hernandez LF Abreu 1B Pena SS Bench: Dubon, Maldonado, Will Wagner, Cooper, Meyers/Julks

If Maldonado has that much value from a research/leadership standpoint, might as well let him work with Diaz for a full year. Diaz catches 110-120 games, DHs 10-20 games.

I wouldn’t be busted up if he left, especially if they could coax Hader into coming in here and helping Abreu in the late innings.
