Which is weird. Why 3 years? Why not 1 or 2? I think NCAA has a sort of handshake agreement with MLB; NCAA gets to make their money for three years, and in exchange NCAA acts as an important training ground for future MLB talent. Three years is too long. Suppose you suffer a horrible accident in college. There goes your path to riches. |

Singleton is 3-for-5 with two dingers in this game. Currently hitting .345 with 10 bombs in just 23 games for Sugar Land. OPS is probably going to be 1.200 or so after this game goes final.

Okay on Singleton...can he play even a little bit of left field? Even just passably? Because I'd sure rather see him in a pinch-hitter backup type role than Bligh Madris again. That's all I'm saying.

Melton has 7 hits in the last two games. He's really turned things around and is hitting .313/.374/.590 with 5 long balls and 12 stolen bases in July. He's struck out just 14 times in 21 games during this month. He's really flashing his tools right now; 17 homers and 39 stolen bases on the season in 75 games. His stock may be on the rise enough to where you could use him rather than Gilbert in a significant trade.

Singleton is just killing it in AAA. Seven bombs in his last 11 games. Hitting .408 in his last 12 games.

I can swim a long way under water, I just can not do it all year. Dude needs to keep walking the straight and narrow for a bit longer and then added to the roster so he can be playoff eligible. That is of course unless he goes up in smoke. |

I'd rather see Singleton than Dickerson. I don't expect either to do much of anything, but at least Singleton would be a fun story for a few days. They aren't calling up a guy straight from A-ball though. It's a crying shame Dirden hasn't been able to figure things out in AAA. |
