The theme of the game is lefthanded pitching. Can a former CYA winner prove he’s worthy of a big contract, or will an ace with a recent no-hitter stifle our offense? We’ll see tonight.

I'm no more worried about facing an ACE than any struggling pitcher we should handle. This offense is unpredictable to say the least.

37-24. On pace for 99 wins. 1 game behind Seattle and 4.5 games behind Boston for first in the league. Still easily leading in run differential at +122.
Top-5 WAR players:
1. Verlander 3.6 2. Altuve 2.5 3. Springer 2.3 4. Cole 2.3 5. Correa 2.2
We could use a big game from the middle of our order tonight to help right the ship.

We're fine long term, but it would be nice to go on hot a streak and get a nice cushion.

Before we get that cushion, we are going to have to see improvement from our hitters and revamp the bullpen.

I bet a month and a half ago that the offense would figure it out soon. Luhnow should hedge his bets by making moves in the meantime.

I'm not saying he shouldn't make some moves if there are reasonable ones to make. I just think there will be some positive changes in June even without any deals.

I think he is smart enough to see that Giles is not the closer we need. The sooner he adds a guy like Herrera, the better.

If you keep doing the same thing with the same people, you usually get the same results. Giles choked last year and is no better right now. He is a head case who can't seem to handle pressure. Move him to another role in the pen or get rid of him

Our next two games will be the most difficult until after the All-Star Break. Win or lose, we'll probably go on a tear for the next 30 games. But I'd really like to start off early with wins over the first place Mariners.
I'll be surprised if we aren't up 10 games by the All Star Break.

I was thinking 5 games up.

Keuchel needs to stay away from Cruz. Springer and Correa have had very good success against Paxton...Altuve, Marwin, and Gurriel not so much. Bregman, Marisnick, and Gattis all respectable.

Marwin back in lineup tonight from sore knee rest

Blech, Marwin.... Marisnick has actually done okay against Paxton so I'm not upset about that. I just don't like seeing both of the Mar-Bros in the lineup.

Another Marisnick-Marwin tandem. I thought the point was to win.

And Marisnick, of course, should NEVER be in any lineup, regardless of who the opposing pitcher is. They need to get rid of his worthless, no-value ass and let Davis play baseball. If Davis fails, bring in someone else (not Marisnick).

Let's see ... Davis is 2 for 14 the last 7 days .. and Kemp is 2 for 16 the last 7 days they're not exactly setting the world on fire so .. that could be it

One of them has to go when Reddick comes back and my guess it's Jake

Since he is a righty, he could stay. Kemp could be traded.
