I read somewhere earlier that Cutch won’t be in the Giants lineup tonight. Apparently either some team claimed him or he made it through the waiver process unclaimed and a trade is in the works. On MLB.com Andrew Baggarly of the Athletic, stated "a very good chance Cutch will be wearing another uniform by the end of the week." I just read your above post, out all day didn't watch any action, just catching up now. With Springer and Marisnick both being dinged already and the Astros being weak in LF all season, it would seem like Luhnow would trade for Cutch, if he could, just for some veteran insurance for the outfield.

McCutchen with an ops of 765 and Smoak with an ops of 854 fill our line up out to perfection. Get them Luhnow, do not hesitate we have pieces that both teams would love and we would not miss. Looking at the active roster, (and barring someone going on the DL) I can’t see Luhnow getting both of those guys. If he gets Cutch, Kemp goes to AAA I’m guessing. If he gets Smoak, who goes? We are within 10 days of having the ability to expand the rosters. Gurriel has lost his power, (if he ever had any based upon the juiced ball), so his wrist is obviously either hurting him or he has fallen out of shape so he can go on the dl to resolve his issues and still be eligible for the post season. As far as the second roster spot, pick someone to go on the dl. Then for post season go with the hot hand, in the end it appears as if Gattis and Gurriel will lose out.

That's what I'm saying. With Whites emergance theres no need for infielder. But OF for sure. McCutchen would be the beat add unless it's a pitcher

When you think Thomas last season pushing during the season of getting Cole and he finally landed in Houston. He also pushed Cutch, that might be another call that might come through.

I dont support any move that takes Tony Kemp out of the game, and neither should you. He has done nothing but produce all season, and deserves to play.

I dont think Kemp would be pulled from the lineup but with injurys you could let Springer spot start for two weeks and get back healthy if you get McCutchen

If Springer is not healthy You need to bring that OF in to help give some days off. Sure you can keep slapping marwin out there but his def iant the best more is his throwing decisions.

I think Cutch is the guy you want to bring in to the clubhouse and get things righted....Especially with Springer's questionable status, it would behoove them to get a solid veteran OF....a great person to have during the playoffs.

Playoff Roster OF - Cutch, Springer, Reddick 3b - Bregman SS- Correa 2b - Altuve 1b - White C - McCann DH - Gattis/Yuli Bench-Gattis/Yuli Bench - Maldonado Bench- Kemp Bench - Marwin
12 Pitchers Verlander, Cole, Morton, Keuchel, McCullers Osuana Rondon Pressly Peacock Devo Smith McHugh
This leaves out Sipp - which I would not be against, because not a believer - however, I don't see the Astros doing that, so who of the above 25 would not make the playoff roster, to make room for Sipp.

Well if McCullers does comeback...which I think is likely and if Cutch is obtained...who does not make the playoff roster?

I also didn't put Stassi...but if McCann comes back...he will get the nod...and I think Maldonado beats out Stassi based on experience....Stassi is the Astros catcher next year and hopefully Stubbs gets promoted and splits time with him, because he could be the future starting catcher.

Part of me wants Cutch here not because of Kemp but because of Springer. His slump has gone on WAY longer than usual, and we need an ace in the hole just in case.

You asked who I would leave off, not who the Astros would. They never do what I would do. Honestly, as much as I love Gattis, if he doesn't get going again and White keeps hitting, I think you might have to give up Gattis.... White has more defensively flexibility (such as it is) and he's hitting way better.

I thought last ALDS, Hinch took 14 position players and 11 pitchers. He might go the same route this year. If Devo hasn't shown he's fixed, I could see him being left off. from www.crawfishboxes.com/2017/10/5/16431250/astros-announce-2017-alds-roster: The Astros will carry 11 pitchers, three catchers, six infielders, and five outfielders. Pitchers RHP Chris Devenski RHP Ken Giles RHP Luke Gregerson RHP Will Harris LHP Dallas Keuchel LHP Francisco Liriano RHP Lance McCullers Jr. RHP Charlie Morton RHP Joe Musgrove RHP Brad Peacock RHP Justin Verlander
Catchers Juan Centeno Evan Gattis Brian McCann
Infielders Jose Altuve Alex Bregman Carlos Correa Marwin Gonzalez Yuli Gurriel Tyler White
Outfielders Carlos Beltran Derek Fisher Cameron Maybin Josh Reddick George Springer

With Reddick being bad this year, and horrible in playoffs last year...might he be the one left out? It’s a possibility, which could be mitigated with a platoon partner like McCutchen.
