I'm wary of giving up good prospects for rentals So far we've managed to obtain at least a couple of serviceable seasons from our acquisitions. I like that approach. Buy FA for short term needs or give secondary prospects for rentals. Providing contract relief and secondary prospects works for me.
I wouldn't mind seeing a few of our top prospects around the All Star break though.

Normally I would agree with Marshall on not giving up prospects for rentals, but the Astros have this window to stay great for this year and next, and anything to get back to the WS should be done, imo.
(Almost whatever it takes.)

(Almost whatever it takes.) I think the window is longer IF we don't give up too many top prospects for a half year rental.

I think the window is longer IF we don't give up too many top prospects for a half year rental. I don't see enough pitching depth past next year to be great. If we lose almost every FA, then i could see that. But I think we'll find a way to keep about half and can replace about half with top prospects if we still have them. Keuchel is probably gone. But I think we find a way to retain Verlander and Cole. Probably lose Springer, but find a way to retain Correa. Gurriel will probably retire. So we need about four or five top prospects. If needed, we can trade top prospects who are blocked for top prospects in positions we need. But perhaps I'm just an optimist.

The more they all succeed the more they'll all want and deserve.

Is Pollock season-good, or monthlong-good-then-mediocre? Health is the biggest issue with him.

Moran and Feliz both doing well for Pittsburg. Both sides of that deal seem to be liking it right now.

After surveying the guys who could become trade deadline targets the one that starts to intrigue me is Nick Castellanos. He has another year of control after this one and plays lf and rf and 3rd base. He could dh and learn to play a little first. Detroit is playing a little above its projections right now so when they hit a cold spell and fall back and bit or if Cleveland and the Twins start to play to expectations then maybe he becomes available.

Did y’all hear the interview with Luhnow today? He hinted strongly that help would be coming from the farm (I think he called it “in house”)

You’ve got to believe that they won’t let Jake keep sucking at this level. I reckon they’ll replace either him or fisher with kemp.

White got hit by a pitch in the third inning of the Friday night game and was taken out in the 5th inning. Didn’t play Saturday or today. He’s not on the DL though. I guess he is day-to-day.

As bad as Jake has sucked, I will still be surprised if it is him that they replace. Probably Fisher and call up Davis. Davis and Marwin could platoon in LF with Marisnick being used as late inning defensive replacement. If it is Fisher they replace, I think they bring up Kemp.

If Jake has options left and will accept being sent down, he should be glad to go down and try to work out his problems

White was held out of the Fresno lineup today, so maybe it's him. Then again, he might have been held out if he's still smarting from those two HBP he took this week.

Tucker is not hitting well enough to get called up over White or Davis, imo. Unless they just want a real OFer.

What do you do with Altuve? You’re getting nothing out of him, and he’s the hitter the lineup depends on the most.

You don’t do anything with Altuve. He’s still the number one or two best hitter in the game. Everyone has slumps...what do you want to do...send him to AAA?
