You don’t do anything with Altuve. He’s still the number one or two best hitter in the game. Everyone has slumps...what do you want to do...send him to AAA? You know, the usual. Consider changing his spot in the lineup. It’s hard to do when everyone else is struggling, though. Altuve: " OMG I'M BATTING IN THE 2ND SPOT! I'M GONNA SWING AT PITCHES 3 FT OFF THE PLATE!"

Because he continues to get himself out trying to pull every pitch no matter where it is located. When you swing at three sliders a foot outside and in the dirt in the same at bat, you are not very smart.

Or he had a bad AB... we are talking about the reigning MVP..that has to be MBA equivalent....maybe PHD...

Biggio looked so bad swinging at those slilders away that it made you wonder why anyone would ever throw him anything else

But, during the last few games he is pressing and doesn't look close to an MVP. He will turn it around, but, he has looked dumb at the plate lately. Biggio did the same thing and it drove me nuts.

Unfortunately, unless you can pick up a tell, you have to swing at the sliders or get caught looking at fastballs and changeups over the plate while looking like a statue ala Fisher. So you pick your poison until you find a tell.

Just read where Angel's closer Middleton is out for TJ surgery.
More bad news for our main 2 competitors. Cano, and now him.

That's always unfortunate to hear about guys who have played so hard that they have to be sidelined for surgery. But I guess it falls under 'occupational hazard'. The Angels were widely expected to suffer down the stretch from overuse of their bullpen but I didn't really expect that effect to kick in till July/August. As it happens, their bullpen could only put up with the pressure for about 6 weeks. Cue the McHugh-for-Trout trade. LAA gets their bullpen shored up and the Astros have a solution in the outfield

Of course if the Angels were kicking in about & $15M/yr, I'm sure something could be worked out. But that's not happening.

I’m looking at the number of blocked prospects we already have and other quality prospects behind them in the minors coming up behind those who are already blocked and I’m thinking we will soon see Luhnow trading some of our blocked prospects who are in the upper levels of the minors. If he doesn’t trade them for a ML player who can fill a need the team has this year, I think he will trade them for quality prospects in the lower levels of other teams’ systems in order to keep the pipeline stocked.

I do not see how it can be avoided. We will lose a ton in rule 5 if he do not and sooner or later the blocked guys will get tired of waiting.
