So .. has Smoak cleared revocable waivers? I can understand why Luhnow passed on an OF given that Gurriel is the guy we need to take at-bats away from

After missing out on Cutch, if Donaldson could be had for a song, do it. Toronto seems pretty desperate to be rid of him. As little as he would cost, it would not be much of a risk. I still have an interest in Justin Smoak, too, because Yuli has become as useless as Correa. I agree with that. |

I understand that everyone's upset about McCutchen, but from how I understand the waiver process works is if the Yankees are ahead of us in line and claim him off
waivers, there's nothing that Luhnow could have done about it The waiver line was erased after no one claimed him....All the Astros had to do is offer the right deal to the Giants to get him. |

Gurriel's salary is a little less, and letting Marwin and Gattis go and replaced with White/Kemp/whomever should save us some money. Course, after next year we potentially lose Cole and Verlander, plus Altuve's $20 million raise kicks in.
It should be an interesting offseason.

Honestly no one knows if Donaldson could even slide that far. He wont make it to the cards cuz supposedly he has to make it threw all the AL teams first.
Then from there I think his division would be last

waivers, there's nothing that Luhnow could have done about it Every team in MLB, including the Yankees and Astros, passed on claiming Cutch about a week ago. Any team could have traded for him at that point. |

In my opinion the Cutch thing was a messup...Astros could have used an OF....The question on Donaldson, can he even fill the DH position, could he actually run after making contact with the bat?....If he could, without question most teams would be interested....but in MLB there are not ghost runners. |

Not getting McCutchen is another example of Luhnow hoarding prospects.....all prospects. He would not have had to touch a highly-rated prospect to get McCutchen. He could get Donaldson or Smoak probably for less than McCutchen would cost. I hope I'm wrong,but I don't think Luhnow will do a thing. What we have, is what we get other than guys were bring up from Fresno. |

A lot of us were pretty high on getting Jose Abreu and then cooled off when he cooled off. Unfortunately he's back on pace having another good offensive year even while on a team with no support.
On pace for: 27 HR 94 RBI .272/.331/.491 .821 OPS (124 OPS+
He'd easily be the 4th best hitter on our team right now.

That's what I'm saying. We are linked to a 1B we are linked to big time power bat.
This is the guy. You can DH him for a couple of games get his legs back underneath him then plug him in at 1B or cycle him around the horn.

I said this a couple of days ago I hope that mini win streak did t change there minds on acquiring a player.
I hope Lunhow is just a flat for the dramatic
