There's still a chance Jeff could land someone by midnight again, but I think Doug's prediction from a long time ago will be right about a pitcher if that

9 minutes to go. Astros will not have a Verlander type trade this year. Gotta keep all those precious Prospects.

I think the players whined about Luhnow not making moves last season. I wonder what they’re saying now.

I think the players whined about Luhnow not making moves last season. I wonder what they’re saying now. Hinch thinks this shows confidence in the guys they have. Last year, we desperately needed a pitcher like Verlander. This year, Luhnow and Hinch are satisfied. If they tank down the stretch, the excuses will be interesting.

From MLBTR:
“The Indians announced that they’ve selected the contracts of outfielder Brandon Barnes and infielder Adam Rosales from Triple-A Columbus”
Brandon Barnes. Now there’s a blast from the past.

Luhnow's good at acquiring pitching. There's 7 arms on the staff who were on other MLB teams 2 seasons ago and they've all pitched well since they've been here

An article in MLB about the best Relief of the Playoffs Astros win by a wide margin. Surprisingly was Oakland was second. Yanks and RedSox were way down on the list

Is there a more over-rated player in all of baseball than Bryce Harper?

I think Nolan Arenado's overrated, but that's cause of the Coors splits

www.mlb.com/news/angels-contract-extension-talks-mike-trout/c-294586460I still think Luhnow is lurking in the background in case Trout becomes available because he refuses to sign an extention. It would be just like him to do so. Of course that means we would have to face players we think highly of for years down the road. But it could be a win-win situation.

The roll of the dice acquisition Donaldson homered for the Indians yesterday, and it wasn’t a cheapie either.

The roll of the dice acquisition Donaldson homered for the Indians yesterday, and it wasn’t a cheapie either. Cutch, in September, has a low BA (.222), but his OBP and SLG are pretty dang good, .444 and .500 respectively....Still scratching my head why Luhnow did get him...I trust Luhnow a ton, but this one made so much sense.

I trust Correa a lot more than Donaldson...it is funny how everyone likes to jump on the bandwagon on a slumping player...who has star quality, and one that has the ability to make a big difference in game/series/playoffs....it is almost every time Corrrea makes an out, you will instantly hear the disdain for the player, from multiple people...he makes it a hit, and maybe one or few say something, or could be just crickets..., Correa is a top talent, root for the guy to do well, don't be so quick to act like he is shit, when he is slumping...

For me personally, and Bear agrees with this, is the quality of at bats is generally worse than last season. You see way too often our players conceding strikes to pitchers or not protecting the zone with two strikes. The main culprits for this are Springer, Correa, and occasionally Altuve. Bregman is confidently aggressive, and when White does well, so is he. When I watch the A’s on occasion, they hit like the Astros did last season when they were clicking. Theyall have the Bregman approach. They take close pitches out of the zone unless there are two strikes. They go first to third on singles often. They look for a zone to hit the ball and unload when the pitcher misses. Most importantly, they have several players who have smart AB’s. The Astros consistently just have Bregman in that regard. This is why the A’s have lost only two series in the past couple months. Their formula works because there’s a set plan. The Astros fly by the seats of their pants.

I trust the Correa we had last year and expected this season. Right now, there are few that I would trust less than Carlos. I cetainly don't disagree that he has star quality and the ability to make a huge difference. The point is that he has been given ample time and at bats to get back to normal and he has made no improvemnt and doesn't seem to be attempting to making adjustments. He continues doing the same things and getting the same negative results. There is az big difference in a slump and a long drought. 18-107 is more than a slump...I root for him to do well as loudly as anyone and I'm well aware of his talent.......that is what makes watching him continue to not produce while making no changes in his game so frustrating. If our hitting coach is not working with him to try and correct his problem, he needs to be fired. If Carlos is rejecting being coached, he needs to be benched. If we keep getting the same things from him we have been getting, we won't win another title and probsbly won't get past the ALDS. I wonder what AJ thinks about the Astros continuing to tank the first game of very home stand........You would think at this time of the year with the importance of this series, they would have shown up last night ready to play and that was not the case. Potential big inning in the first killed by a Correa DP ball and NOTHING after that......they mailed it in.........Oakland won and cut into our lead, No excuse for the crap we saw last night from our hitters.

Well, obviously I am a believer in Correa...so if you took a poll, on this board, I might be one of the few that believes he is going to get together and be integral part of the team's success in the playoffs....
