If we could get a good bat in return, I'd trade Keuchel right now.
Realistically, the Astros are not trading Keuchel this season...
Before we forget, this was the only start of the year out of 6 that DK has given up more than 3 runs.
Is this the same Kuechel of old? Of course not. OTOH, I am going to avoid a kneejerker reaction, and start clamoring for a trade. In the playoffs he might be what the doctor ordered for long relief.
I would trade him to Milwaukee for a king's ransom...
I could see that. No way they beat the Dodgers or Nationals to get to us.
Not saying the Astros will, probability extremely low....but I would trade Keuchel to the Brewers for Hader, Santana and a top prospect...I think Keuchel is more history than future.

Very true. I am not that big of a Dallas fan. The scouting info he could give to his new team could be critical imo.

Watching the Angels vs Yankees Sunday night game, I am envious of the Yankees bullpen....probably just jinxed them.....but their bullpen pitchers have some serious stuff.
This series against the Yanks will be the Astros' first simulation of postseason-type baseball for 2018.
Astros have MLB's best pitching staff. Yankees have the best offense in MLB.
Yankees tend to strike out a lot and hit a lot of ground balls. Astros pitchers lead the MLB in strikeouts and lead the AL in inducing ground balls. So maybe the Yankees' weaknesses play to the Astros' strengths.
The Yankees hit the ball really really hard, so when they do launch it, it tends to leave the park about 20% of the time. Whether by choice or necessity, the Astros have tended not to swing for the fences this year but instead try to get on base (and are in fact among the MLB leaders in OBP).
Austin and Sanchez both hit a lot of pulled fly balls, so Astros pitching needs to make sure those guys don't take advantage of the Crawford Boxes. Gregorius is more of a threat to homer to RF.
The Yankees and Astros are both very selective hitting teams, hence the BB% for each is very high.
I really like the AStros' chances in Games 1, 2, and 4 of this series but Game 3 (Severino vs Keuchel) could put the Astros at a disadvantage. Then again, Yankees fans seem to think Keuchel has their number somehow.
No reason to trade any of our starters. They're either very effective, or moderately effective and cheap. We WILL have health issues so why deplete our depth if we don't have to?

Man, did you see Hader’s last appearance? He came in with one out in the 7th and got one walk and 8K’s to end it and got a save. I’ve never heard of such a dominant relief outing.

The batters helped a lot by swinging wildly at pitches way out of the zone. It was still a good performance though, Don't give them anything they could possibly hit if they're swinging wildly.

You would think Keuchel will have a good year because of his pending FA status. I think for fantasy baseball he would be a great buy low candidate right now...I am sure on the off days he will be spending a lot of time with Strom, who has credited for making his career..
I know he's not available for trade this year, but one of the relievers to really come out of nowhere and shine in 2018 (and who might be available in 2 or 3 years, who knows) is Adam Ottavino of the Rockies.
The movement he's creating on the ball is incredible:
When spring training ended I was talking with a friend about Ottavino really having a chance to do something big this year, and he looked at me like 'What you been smokin?'
Anyway, looks like the Astros may go for a reliever or two at the deadline. Some guys I'd have on my scouting list if I were Luhnow:
I know some people are big on Zach Britton, but he won't be back from his Achilles surgery till late May and I think it's anybody's guess how well he'd be pitching by July.

Britton or Herrera, both are pending FAs next year, so the asking price should be lower...

I know that Giles is not a reliable closer, but I really think the DH issue is as or even more pressing. It’s become obvious that asking Marwin or Reddick to be as productive as last season is demanding quite a bit. Asking Gattis and Marisnick to hit .250 and cut down their strikeouts is like asking me to mimic Ted Williams in slow pitch softball. The offense needs help, and we all can’t just rely on the peaks turning into valleys. They need a boost.
