I really think Tyler White would cover the DH need well without having to trade for a DH. But it's quite possible that Ted Tucker won't be ready for the big leagues by August, so on that basis it would be good if the Astros could trade for an outfielder. Probably we don't want to see Tony Kemp on the postseason roster, but he'd probably do better than Marisnick.
Nick Markakis of the Braves is going on 35 years old and I'm not sure the Braves really see him as part of their team once they get into contention. (Maybe they even think they can contend this year -- they are certainly off to a good start.) But if Atlanta tanks between now and July, they may want to get something back for Markakis in trade. He's hitting really well so far this season (OPS+ of 144).
If Toronto tanks, then maybe Steve Pearce or Curtis Granderson become available.

I’m not big on Markakis, but he would be a decent addition to the lineup. He’s steady, patient, and more than apt for the bottom of the order. He’d also be a defensive upgrade over Marwin in LF.

at least we didn't get Greg Holland. He's a $14M bust and St. Louis replaced him at closer .. with Bud Norris
I hope he doesn’t punch himself in the face on the way to the dugout.
Watching the reply of Giles going into the dugout from a different angle, not only watching the self inflicted punch in the face, I wonder who's game bat he slammed to the ground. I sure whomever's bat it was they didn't appreciate it.
Our two viral video moments of the year now consist of a doufous geting picked off on a grounded into triple play, and now a pseudo-closer who does a fabulous dumb and dumber impersonation.

The next position the front office needs to hire is a shrink.
Didn't you hear about the remake? They are going to marry Cuckoo and the Dickens classic. Scrooge takes a bad mushroom trip, and some ghost takes him to a mid 20th century mental hospital. There he gets abused by a wicked Nurse Cratchit, finally succumbing inside a vat of Christmas Plumb Pudding

Sad, but true. Gattis and the first base coach both looked like idiots on the triple play and Giles put on a psycho act last night.

I know he's not available for trade this year, but one of the relievers to really come out of nowhere and shine in 2018 (and who might be available in 2 or 3 years, who knows) is Adam Ottavino of the Rockies.
The movement he's creating on the ball is incredible:
When spring training ended I was talking with a friend about Ottavino really having a chance to do something big this year, and he looked at me like 'What you been smokin?'
Anyway, looks like the Astros may go for a reliever or two at the deadline. Some guys I'd have on my scouting list if I were Luhnow:
I know some people are big on Zach Britton, but he won't be back from his Achilles surgery till late May and I think it's anybody's guess how well he'd be pitching by July.
Excellent video. It shows his Achilles heel. The ball breaks out of the strike zone. Unless he has a pitch that stays in the strike zone to complement this pitch, he'll wind up with batters just taking walks. If we did get him, I bet you'd see him coached to do like Morton and start that pitch at the chest and let it break over the plate.

back in the day that is how they taught guys to throw the curve. If you had a good fastball and a curve that you started out at the guys head or chest you can bet that that guy did not load up and put good swings on those curves. Particularly if the arm slot is exactly the same ala Verlander. You recover in time to swing but not well. If you have a slider that breaks 12-16" as well then you are one bad dude.
