time for Luhnow change of direction, nobody bidding on hitters right now. Red Sox and Yankees feel good about their line ups. Time to swoop in and get a bat, outscore everyone and then hope the kids can come up and do something. Although I’m glad Luhnow didn’t mortgage the future for Britton, this bullpen doesn’t scare anyone besides the fans.

It would take one hell of a folding act for us not to win the division and in the playoffs McCullers and Morton get added to the pen. So McCuller, Morton, McHugh, Rondon, and Smith ain't a bad pen.

I still think the Yankees overpaid. Article on MLBTR is saying that they gave up their #9, #15 and another decent prospect. Glad Luhnow passed on that one. Gotta know when to fold ‘em. I would be willing to bet that the Orioles wanted our #6 prospect Nova. He is projected to debut in mlb in 2021...just in time to replace Correa should he decide to leave when he hits free agency in 2022. Nova is supposed to be the real deal at SS. Here is mlb.com’s assessment of Nova: “Nova excited the Astros with both his tools and his performance in various analytic measures of strength, speed and conditioning. He has an effective right-handed swing with bat speed and loft, and he already shows signs of a selective approach. He barrels balls easily and is a rare shortstop who should hit for both average and power, earning comparisons to Hanley Ramirez and Edgar Renteria. Nova also possesses at least plus speed, making him a threat to steal. He has good instincts on the bases and at shortstop, not to mention quick hands and a strong arm. Though he needs more defensive consistency, he should be able to remain at short and still would profile well offensively if he outgrows the position and slides to third base.”

He makes a lot of hard contact. I remember when we signed him. I looked at our signings and I was like why did we sign so many ss. Well I guess you have to sift through a bunch to get a keeper. Nova makes a lot of hard contact

Well recent reports say not moving Whitley or Alveraz . Didn't say Tucker but pretty much think he is In that mix.
But this is able time to swoop on what ever you can get that improves the Astros. And recent reports are Chapman might not be that healthy

Why is no one mentioning Sergio Romo if there's news reports about San Diego prying away Chris Archer I would think Romo will be traded. Not sure if he would improve the Astros though.

List
Reyes Moronta, Tony Watson and Will Smith Giants
Kyle Barraclough and Adam Conley of the Marlins
Ryan Stanek of the Ray's
Joakim Soria of the White Sox
Seth Lugo of the Mets
Jose Leclerc and Keona Kela of the Rangers
And that's pretty much it. Either a team has said they wanna keep em or they are in the run for the playoff chase
I forgot Kirby Yates and Stamman

The Article I Just read was stating that the Dodgers and Yankees are under pressure to win a WS. That they had to make a deal

We started talking about Herrera in April... in retrospect that looks like a big miss.

No worrys Brittons a Yankee. This is the point where we gotta say. Houston...... We have a Bullpen problem... MAJOR TOM ARE YOU THERE....

If Iglesias and Vazquez are really off the market, I would focus on Stammen and Watson. Then get Castellanos and call it a day.

It's either Ramos or Realmuto Some 1B or OF Then 2 Relivers.
But nothing that will cost them Whitley , Alveraz or Tucker....

They need to find another bat. The offense is just completely out of sync. I still say Martinez would be a really nice addition to the team and won't cost too much.

For a hitter, I'd like to see Luhnow get someone with a currently-hot bat rather than a guy with a solid career but a mediocre 2018. Whoever he gets ought to have an OPS+ of at least 110 this year.

Yeah, but you don’t want someone who’s too “flavor of the month”. Look at Gattis. He was probably the MLB’s biggest offensive threat in June.

I'd like to see someone who has at least been decent every month of this year, punctuated by a couple of really good months hitting .850 OPS or higher.

Martinez has been consistent and has a higher OPS than all but two people on the Astros. He is truly a DH though
