Who are y'all gonna cut to make room for a full 1/3 or 3/4 of a new lineup you're asking for?

Maldonado can’t hit a lick, but opposing teams won’t run free on the bases when he is behind the plate. I really like the move. I know he is a rental. At least we don’t have to watch him gunning down or picking off our baserunners for the rest of this year.

Luhnow made a pretty good decision here by getting a very good defensive catcher for practically nothing and kept Stubbs. This will look like an even better deal if he uses prosoects he didn't trade to get a good reliever or two and another bat. I wish he could get either Merrifield or Moustakas from KC....I wish we had both of them. I hope he is working hard to pry Iglesius away from the Reds. And, if he hits the jackpot, he can get rid of Giles in one of the deals. I’m not big on Moustakas, but he’d force Bregman to LF and get rid of the outfield problem. No way should Bregman be moved to LF. He is too good at third and SS to do that.

What has Stassi done since McCann went down? More than Marwin, Tucker, or Gattis....

I really like the move. I know he is a rental. At least we don’t have to watch him gunning down or picking off our baserunners for the rest of this year. Surprisingly, Maldonado has hit well in clutch situations.
Runners on- .268 avg .696 OPS
Scoring position- .296 avg .808 OPS
Bases loaded- .400 avg 1.100 OPS
Scoring pos w/2 outs he's down to .176
We just have to make sure he is always up to bat with runners on and less than 2 outs
Also, if we get bored we could put him at 1b. Don't know why we would but hey the options there.
Batting 8th in the lineup he has 3 HRs and 25 RBIs in only 131 ABs. x4 that would translate to 12 HRs and 100 RBIs in a full season of 520 ABs

I understand you dont have to believe it but I have alittle information.
According to a source Astros are in search of a LFer and potentially 2 pitchers
It was said Lunhow is working different scenarios on how to acquire these players. But Tucker could be sent down for more playing time and see if he can bounce back to hitting well.
Also the source says Tuckers biggest concern is his bat seems slow. Same source says pay attention to Whitley he may get a call up for bullpen help.

I’d vote for getting Herrera and Doolittle from the Nats.

Whitley he may get a call up for bullpen help. So a recently promoted prospect who is on injured list, and had a rocky couple of outings prior is ready for a call up to the big club? Yeeeeeeeahhhhh. Right......

You seem to be infatuated with him for reason. Maldonado is a big improvement defensively over Stassi or Fed. I am sure Fed will be released or sent down. Maldonado h has a great throwing arm and frames pitches well. Our pitchers will love having him.

Until Correa returns, it would make more sense to play Moustkakas at third with Bregman going to SS. I would enjoy seeing Marwin out of the lineup

So, what does happen to Tucker?
Is he allowed to iron out his hitting woes in the majors this year or does he get sent down for at least a month to work on what he has progressed thus far?

If we trade for another OF, my guess is that Tucker is sent back down and recalled in September. It's not much but he is 2 for his last 8 with a 3b and 2 RBIs. Only k'd 5 times in last 25 ABs (despite only having 3 hits).
There's so much that reminds me of how Bregman came up, the main difference is Bregman was constantly getting hard outs that went right to fielders.
If we erased his states so far and started up again with tomorrows game, I am confident he'd be hitting .250 at least in his next 10 games played.

I'm not sure why stating statistical evidence gets some of y'all so butthurt. I didn't make some of those guys hits worse than Stassi. They just are and I'm pointing it out. You don't have to like it, but it's the truth right now. And I never said Maldonado was a problem. It's just not anything special. He's depth and a replacement for Fed. He can barely hit and his framing metrics are not good this year. But, he does have a good arm and pitchers like him. It's just a "meh" deal. I don't think it makes us better or worse but I hope for the best.

You may see our pitchers becoming more confident throwing certain out pitches knowing they have an experienced play caller behind the plate. One that can gun down a threat stealing as well.
As I stated earlier. I wouldn't be surprised if his bat plays as well with runners on to extend an inning.

Tucker is almost a carbon copy of Bregman when he came up in terms of hitting. At that time, we needed Bregman worse than we need Tucker right now, assuming a trade if made to improve the LF situation. If we don't make a deal, I would liie to see Kemp used as DH for awhile if Tucker is going to be in the lineup.
