And he needs to do it ASAP. we need a bat and we need a late inning reliever last month and we still need a bat and a late inning reliever.

Healthy we have the best team hands down. If Correa gets hurt again, or Jose is hurt more than we know....The season could end soon. I think we can all agree that the offense is nothing special without those guys.

He sat on his ass and kept prospects last year and got away with it so he may think lightning will strike twice. With Altuve and Correa both on the DL, he needs to get somebody. You build a good farm system to give you the pieces you need to trade for players to help you win a championship as well as to bring up to the main club. We have several BLOCKED prospects that can be traded for players we need NOW. Contininng to hoard prospects rather than use some to fill holes on the Astros can come back to bite him. Why does ne insist on hanging on to White, Reed, and those guys./ I don’t think teams want White, Reed, etc. If they do and Luhnow says no, then I don’t know what to tell you, man. he has 3 days to get off his ass and do something. We don't know when either Correa or Altuve will be back and we don't know how bad their injuries are.

I guess they think we are going to leave them out there for the rule 5 next year.

He is Fresno's best hitter right now......better than Fisher, White, Reed, and Luhnow's other prize prospects he keeps hoarding.

I'd imagine it's either Jake or White who gets called up on Sunday. Jake has the D covered but seeing as how it's an infielder going on the DL, probably makes sense to replace him with another infielder.
Reed is an option too if they want to get more of a look at him / build more of a sample size.
White was held out of today's Fresno game, so maybe that says something.

Jake is like a 25% player. U actually hope for the best at the plate but his def and base running wow.
But it's TRUE we need some help soon. Jose Martinez isn't a bad option I just dont see us dealing with the Cards.
Something has to happen. And if I where the Ray's I'm telling the Yankees give me Justus Shiefield and Clint Frazier and I'll send you Archer period across the board other then that duces.
Looks like Padres are gonna pull him rather sham ful

I read on MLBTR that Danny Valencia is one of those players who may get dealt at the waiver deadline rather than the non-waiver deadline. ]]
We had discussed the pros and cons of a Valencia trade a few weeks ago.

No rumblings anywhere that I have found on a possible trade. Looks like Whitley is thought to be the ace in the hole for the pitching staff. There was a hint in the article on the Astros home page about him being envisioned in a September staff. Who is the ace in the hole for hitters, Tucker has crapped the bed, Straw has hit the wall and his average is dropping like a rock, everyone else has had a look see. So my guess is that relievers of consequence as just too expensive to consider. Bats though seem to be an option as they have not appreciated the way relievers have.

I'm not saying we should be desperate to make a move yet...but we're getting close. We need a bat to help pick up the slack with these injuries. Might have to overspend some.

(Saint has joined the group.) I just hope, if we make a move, go in for a good player that's proven, not just a mediocre rental that we can platoon or some guy having a fluke career year all of a sudden. Get Choo, or one of the Joses, or Matt Adams, or something. I don't mind trading prospects, but I hate trading prospects for mediocrity that we have HOPE they'll do good.

So some slight news Gohara prospect from the Braves could be headed to the Rangers for Beltre and a Reliever??
There are some reports there have been Ranger scouts watching Gohara.

I don't think Luhnow and Co. didn't look at what the Yankee's did to win Back to Back. They got rid of a couple players that had Career Years and Replaced them with other players that were looking for that ring and kept a third of the lineup hungry for the Ring. Which I believe kept the Hard Core on Center.

Outside of Whitley and Tucker, I'd make any prospect available in the right deal. Try to keep Alvarez if possible, but, we need a bat. If that isn't obvious after this week, it won't be obvious. Just as I was afraid of, Luhnow waits and waits and waits. He got a good defensive catcher with a weak bat and a solid right-handed reliever. We still need a left-hander and a bat. I wish I was confident that he will get them.

But he also got two relievers before the season started, one is now the team closer...Plus, traded for Gerrit Cole, who made the All Star team...Luhnow has not been sitting idly, Astros fans are getting spoiled/impatient....I trust the best GM in baseball...
