Neither relied on velocity,but, there is no comparing the two when you look at the individual production of each pitcher.  Maddux won well over 300 games and won multiple Cy Youngs.  Keuchel had ONE great year when he won the Cy Young., You can spin it any way you choose, but, Keuchel is not one of the top pitchers.

I compared them as being control-based pitchers when you said control-based pitchers can't have success. I never tried to say Keuchel was as good as Maddux. You keep posting Maddux's successes like you're proving me wrong at something I never said.

your problem is if you like a player, you are blinded to his weaknesses.  How many times have we seen Keuchel come out and give up 3-4 runs in the first inning becazuse he can't locate his pitches?  Much of the time he regroups and has a decent game after that, but, the damage has been done, especially if he is matched up against a good opposing pitcher. Maddux seldom dug a hole for this team to start the game.

Both Keuchel and Maddux were "contol-based" pitchers.  The difference being Maddux was dominant and Keuchel is very inconsistent.
